Hello!:)

Sorry, I am not as technically sound as you guys.  Could someone write up a step-by-step guide to download and install the NZ maps into the Nokia N95?  That would be greatly appreciated:)

This thread has the full details on what to do to install these maps onto the N95, check the first 2 pages.

Essentially, you need to install the MGMaps program onto your phone, which I found easiest to do straight from the phone itself (ie using your phone's internal browser and navigating to the MGMaps site)

Then unzip the file from billgates server onto your hard drive for safekeeping, and transfer the contents of the folder to your phone's microSD card. The folder name should be 'MGMapsCache', should be in the root of the memory card, and should also be hidden. Be aware that the files in the zip are already set to extract to a folder called MGMapsCache, so check you haven't got an extra sub-directory level (ie not MGMapsCache\MGMapsCache)

Then fire up the MGMaps application on your phone, go to Settings>Map Browsing and tick the Stored Maps and Offline Mode boxes.

In theory that should work. I'm still copying the MGMapsCache folder over to my microSD card!

**EDIT**

Yes, those steps above work just fine :)
Just remember to go to the application manager under the 'Applications' tab on your N95, and select MGMaps to 'Always Allow' for read user data

And one final request to billgates... could you please please leave the ftp site up until at least the start of Feb? I'm not on my main connection at the moment, so could not download the larger map yet, but would definitely love to use that instead. Thanks!

billgates: I have made a private FTP account for geekzone members on my webhost.

Please type in URL - geekzone@gwachigaan.com@gwachigaan.com (copy and paste)
Password - geekzone

You need to use a FTP client like filezilla (freeware) to upload

For filezilla Host box - gwachigaan.com
Username - geekzone@gwachigaan.com
Password - geekzone

It doesnt work for me to download? (I am not a big FTP expert) I tried to copy the address into the Firefox browser, but didnt work. What should I do?

I tried in IE:

Request Error (invalid_request)

Your request could not be processed. Request could not be handled
This could be caused by a misconfiguration, or possibly a malformed request.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

password is geekzone (smallcaps), also you dont have to put any username in, it should only ask for a password. I hope you are not using a FTP software to access this. Just go to Firefox and copy ftp://geekzone@gwachigaan.com@gwachigaan.com into the URL and it should ask for a password which is geekzone.
