tbnz: Well i might be being a bit of a noob but i have the files, now how do I use them?

Go here for installation instructions for MGMaps then add the map file to the root ie E of your memory card.
Now tou need to use something like Y-Browser to change the attribute settings for the map folder to Hidden, otherwise you will have memory problems.
Thats it!
Let me know if you have any problems.

Did you restart your phone after making the MapsCache folder hidden?

i remove and reinstall the MGMaps and it works again. which version should i use? 1.33 or 1.35? in 1.33 do i need just to put E:MGMapsCache for the directory? i notice that 1.35 have the directory as E:\MGMapsCache\ as the default directory but quite unstable. so i change back to 1.33. however, no luck,it wont show any map available (at 50m zoom) for wellington region using version 1.33.

You must be using  ver 1.35.01-n95 and you must install from the jad file. Copy your map file to the root of your memry card, this should be E: so the path will be E:/MGMapsCache.Under Settings/map Browser settings, select Low Memory and Stored Maps boxes. Save settings, close the app and then restart.

hey, thanks for that! just finish my work and get to read the forum better! the reason why i could not get your map because i was viewing at 50m instead of 100m! hahaha. thanks for the good work. however, i notice that my phone works better if i uncheck the low memory box. it is smoother when i check the enhanced panning box. the only annoying bit is that 1.35 mgmaps is not signed by symbian? it keeps on asking me to click YES to allow the program to read user data. otherwise, it is ok.

That is easily fixed...............

On your phone, go to Tools/Application Manager
Navigate to Mobile GMaps and select "Open"
Navigate to "Read User Data" and select "Always Allowed"
Save and exit

I am working on a new version of the map which will have the cities down to the maximum level ie 16 or 50m. This will increase the file size considerably but the detail is great.
After that the next step is to start introducing the smaller cities.
Will post ver 1.1 and a screenshot shortly.

upsilon: Hmm i really need a card reader, 6hours 5min remaining ...

Using a card reader, it takes about 50 min to copy 128MB which is the size of the new map with enhanced level detail.

I loaded this on my phone last night, took me some time to figure out that I had the maps in the folder e:/MGMapsCache/MGMapsCache/...

Once I moved them up a folder it worked great, maps look awesome! :-) Thanks you've done a good job.

The only thing is that when I go to my GMaps settings for Read User Data I don't get 'Always allowed' as an option, only 'never allow' and 'always ask'.

A  few of the other settings have the 'always allowed' option but only one or two, most have 'never allow', 'always ask' and 'ask first time'

I'm running the latest phone firmware too, any ideas?

peejayw what's the deal with the sat images or the hybrid view, is it possible to do them too or will the file be too huge?

Anything is possible but the file size just gets bigger and bigger. Did you have a particular area you were interested in?

Well as I said, anything is possible, its just a matter of the resulting file size.

My aim at the moment is to produce a comprehensive street map for NZ maybe then could look at adding Sat Images but if you want a particular area can do that.
