Updated my Hong Kong Lumia 1520 to Cyan after downgrading to WP8.0 and flashing UK ROM. Was offered the Cyan update then straight away.

The developer preview WP8.1 users don't have to revert back to WP8.0 to get Cyan unless they want it straight away. MS said they are working on a bitlocker fix for WP8.1 DP users who can upgrade to WP8.1 RTM with Cyan without loosing any personal data.

freitasm: Shame Microsoft stuffed up the Developer Preview this time and it seems whoever has installed it might have to manually revert to be able to install the Cyan update.

....doh :(   Linkage to more details?

(Can't say it comes as a huge surprise though; I had this possibility at the back of my mind when signing up for the dev preview.)

"We are currently investigating the issue. We have paused delivery of the update to customers using the Preview for Developers, and will resume once a fix is in place. Customers whose phones have been affected should use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool to return your Lumia to a normal commercial software state before downloading the Lumia Cyan update. More information about the tool can be found at www.nokia.com/support/recovery-tool."

Any info on how to do that would be appreciated.. I have already rolled my HK1520 back to WP8.0, but rolling it fwd would be nice.

The only thing I was really looking forward to on Cyan with a 920 is the "camera and camera roll enhancements" - though I'm still unsure what exactly these are.

TBH for now I'm pretty happy to just stay on the developer preview until the fix for the bitlocker issue is out, especially since it doesn't look like a 920 that originated from Telecom will even have the update available yet.

Below is the link for step by step instructions including links to download the software and files needed. Took me all up 30 minutes to revert my Hong Kong ROM Lumia 1520 Yellow back to WP8.0 (UK ROM) and then checking for phone update under the settings app which offered RTM WP8.1 with Cyan firmware.

Product Code and Product Type are the 2 most important things. Hong Kong Lumia 1520 are RM-937. To confirm yours, go the settings app, then extras + info and tap more info. Should be listed under Manufacturer's info. Product Type is the ROM you want to flash it to. Depending on the colour of your Lumia 1520, pick the one that matches your model's colour for UK ROM codes below.

059V051 VAR EURO GB CV YELLOW
059V333 VAR EURO GB CV WHITE
059V337 VAR EURO GB CV BLACK

Bloody hell, there are different firmware variants for different colours?   I don't get why nokia loves the 200 very very minor variants thing, and doesn't do an apple with one single model to rule them all instead of this mess.

My Lumia 925 (RM-892, Australia / New Zealand 'country variant' version) received its Cyan update OTA today.

Anyone (Regs?) have any idea when we can expect Cortana?

I did the UK restore as well and other than having to manually install a heap of apps that weren't picked up as needing to be installed and playing the re-sign in game to all of them it was pretty smooth. Looks like it's finally picking up all of my apps correctly now though so maybe that was just a temporary store issue.

Really nice to have my fitbit syncing directly after having to use my PC for so long. Also noticed that the wifi and cellular icons now show traffic icons too. Didn't notice that on the developer preview.

To add to Brents comment, the only new announcements have been around China, UK, Canada, India, Australia.  Check the Windows Phone blog post here: http://blogs.windows.com/windows_phone/b/windowsphone/archive/2014/07/30/windows-phone-8-1-update-brings-cortana-to-new-markets-new-features.aspx

Where did you get your 1520?  Check here to see if the update is available for your handset:

Ah that makes sense. My lumia was parallel imported from HK, that's why it's not available yet. I thought simply changing the region setting would do the trick but apparently not...oh well...I guess I'm stuck with Black for now...
