Bugger missed out as well. Really not that much stock in NZ. I wonder how many were sold at full price?

Thing is, non-tech people will buy them on TM thinking they're getting a bargain, and not realising the touchpads are discontinued.

Sux to be the 15yo that gets one for xmas (when there'll be no apps left)

You know that only the HARDWARE is being discontinued by HP, right? Development for the OS is still ongoing.

Unfortunately only 2.2/2.3 though, it's terrible for a tab

Hopefully Honeycomb source is released soon however

Finally checked into hotel for TechEd and back at a real keyboard :)

Unsuccessful with Acquire. Would've put the pad in my shopping basket at around 9:30 but order wasn't submitted until about 10:00 due to needing to create an account etc, a mission on a smartphone (and it took about 20 minutes for the account password email to arrive). I'm not sure when the stock allocation actually took place.

My Barnes & Noble order has also been cancelled. That just leaves Amazon/OnSale.

It's a pity there was no warning from Ingram Micro to their "valued" resellers to actually inform them of this event prior to the actual event. Their official response to me was "sorry didn't think they would sell that fast". Well DUH! Wink

Yup, and you've seen what the non tablet-optimised apps look like on it?

That was one of the initial complaints with the system.

I scored 2 this morning from bond and bond timaru. Made  a workmate line up with me, Been first in cue we were offered the 32GB for the same price as the 16, I own an ipad an realise this is no ipad killer, BUT inital thoughts, Resoultion is good and clear, Apps are ok sure its no apple app store but they cover my needs, Im very happy with it, i see they still gonna support WebOS and still develop it so who knows Im VERY happy 137 for 32Gb web broswer and video player im not complaining one little bit

I tried calling Ingram a few times though various channels (im a reseller), no luck, spent the morning watching the stock levels drop wondering how people where ordering them at the discounted price, then bang, out of stock.

Not sure about all the back lash on Noels though, there was never going to be high stock levels for the product, i mean, really it was racked like 4th or 5th on the list of tablets at the mo. Not a big product.

With the stock count shown there, I don't understand how it could happen either.

Ended up ordering through a seller on Amazon after it became clear that all my other orders were going to fall through - will end up costing me over $300 landed for 32GB. Looking at Ebay there are people paying up to USD $290 for a 16GB Touchpad... I'm not expecting them to be under NZD $300 on Trademe... at least not for 32GB. Since when has Trademe ever been cheaper than Ebay?

Still wouldn't mind more for a decent price for the kids.

If the Noel Leeming staff were buying for their kids or close friends, then good on them, I would too, but if they were buying to put on Trademe then I'd be pretty p*ssed off if I'd waited outside the store.

Not too worried about Acquire. Compared to Barnes & Noble who put a hold on my card, during which time my order was "processing" (and I wasn't allowed to cancel) and the advert was still online and it appears they were accepting orders for another 5-6 hours after mine. Then about 18 hours after my order B&N sent a cancellation, Acquire at least gave us a more realist expectation and the news was delivered in a semi reasonable time frame.

Lots of new customers on the books for Acquire, Barnes & Noble, Amazon and others and a few staff and people with connections making a nice profit on the side. I'm sure they're going to want to do exactly the same with the next thing that comes along.
