Still no luck on my Jasjar either. Have tried the paste shortcut method, everything.
Used the thumb-board for entering passwords

Works great on my Jasjar no issues since day one

I just tried again, and Pocket MSN (all bits of it) logins work from both the Apache (EV-DO & WiFi) and the Gasjar (GPRS, UMTS and WiFi).

IOW, it definitely works from WM5 devices in NZ...

Just tried also. No go on a jasjar over wi-fi, or 3g or activesync.

I also just downloaded a trial of Agile Messenger which works perfectly so it does appear that the service is available in NZ, just not on my Jasjar (out of the box)

Any other suggestions?

This doesn't count. Agile Messenger uses a proxy, so your device is not connecting directly to MSN servers.

It's a bit strange, bt it works for me on the Apache (my Jasjar is with someone who is tring it, but I can confirm it worked before leaving my hands).

Have you tried a soft reset just before using MSN Messenger?

How much memory do you have available just before using MSN Messenger?

Have you deleted the Internet Explorer cache and how much memory before and after doing this step? (open Pocket Internet Explore, tap Menui | Tools | Options | Delete Files).

No go after soft reset

Free storage 11.32 mb Program 25.78 mb

clear cache gives 24.42 mb storage and 24.06 program - still no go

I so much need to get MSN working on my Apache.
Thanks for your help in trying to sort this out guys.

Soft reset made no diffrence.
Deleting cache files - no difference.
Memory before:
Storage 39.95Mb Prog 35.14Mb

Whatever I do I just get the same message:
logon to MSN Messenger sService failed because service is not responding.
Please try again later.

Temporary conditions currently prevent connecting to the Pocket MSN server.

No difference with Wi-Fi or TG3.

Sory guys, works for me on the Apache, CDMA EVDO and Wi-Fi...

Can you please do another test too in addition to the previous request for memory information: login to MSN on your desktop, and then try from the Pocket PC. In my case the desktop will show a notification "You have signed in to Messenge on another computer".

Do you ever see this (even if the Pocket PC gives a timeout?)

No never have seen this as have never been able to connect from mobile device

After pasting the shortcut as described above, I get an additional message box "Logon to MSN Messenger Service failed because the service is not responding. Please try again later."

MSN on my desktop is unchanged by anything I do on the Apache.

BTW: I used to use mobile Yahoo chat on my Blackberry. This service also does not seem to work on Apache! Any link?

Hard reset.
Set device up for WiFi, AS4.0, CDMA.
Test internet connection - confirmed working.
Soft reset.
Storage free: 37.88
Program free: 34.29
Cleared IE Cache:
Storage free: 38.76
Program free: 33.47
Still no connection for MSN using the shortcut we set up earlier, or directly though the Pocket MSN link.

maybe there are a few bad units with bad MSN Messenger on WM5? perhaps it is worth looking into which batch it is and lodge an investigation?

If some JasJar is affected, and majority of Apache is affected, this will affect my decision in getting either devices or any WM5 devices.

No indication of this being the case... It looks like some are affected, some not.

It could be network routing or any other issue, so we should all wait for the official word.

In the meantime it would help if people experiencing problems could report here - for those who did already, thanks!

The only other thing I can think of is that if you have different country settings, you connect to different MSN access servers, some of which may be slow to respond.
