MaxLV: Just finished installing Cyan update for my Vodafone 520. Two updates, first one about 10 minutes, then a message to check for updates. Cyan update took about an hour to complete, and 30 minutes to update apps.

Note: standard Vodafone 520.

Great. Thanks for the info. updating our vnz 520 right now.

I didn't get the chance to roll back my 820 this weekend, so will do it next weekend (unless Microsoft fix this most annoying developers upgrade bug before then!)

Just rechecked for the updates now and YES my VFNZ + 2d sim'd 520 is getting the update

YAY it's all done 30 mins for the first part (WP8.1) then about an hour for Cyan and then it tells me I need to update 21 apps and my google account needs attention so there's another hour gone but all done now seems OK just as fast it was and no lag so far

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me 27 times and I will give up, eventually.

I have given up on Microsoft ever fixing the developers 8.1 preview upgrade to Cyan. In fact it has left a sour taste as the promise of fixing this has been too long and I suspect will never be fixed. So I reset my phone so I could get Cyan.

The good thing about the reset is the latest version of the Nokia recovery tool actually restores you 8.1 with Cyan. That was a pleasant surprise and meant I only had to do one reset/restore.

The bad thing. The promised restore of backed up 8.1 settings, home screen and other items did not happen. I basically have a virgin 8.1 phone. Not happy. Reading various websites the restore should happen when you go to 8.1. It did not happen and I cannot see how to manually force the restore - I suspect I can't anyway now because the backup settings are on and I probably have only got a fresh cloud backup of my virgin 8.1 setup. :(

Other thing, the 8.1 app update install it runs installed a whole lot of apps I have never used and did not have on the developers preview like all the Bing apps (I only had a couple previously), Skype, Zino and Facebook. Can I assume this has happened because my restore did not happen?

I'm now unsure if I should trust the developers preview option again. Fool me once.......

Yes... Wife's 625 was offered an updated earlier this week - I was optimist and thought it would br Cyan (the device is on Dev Preview track). No, it isn't, it's just another Windows Phone 8.1 update. And now the Nokia Camera doesn't work.

She's won't be happy, which means moving back to released versions.

As above, I don't think Microsoft is going to fix the developer track.

To restore backup

1.When you first set up your new phone, sign in using the same Microsoft account you used when you created your backup

2.When you're prompted to restore your phone, tap the backup you want to use, then tap Next

Cyan update for 8.1 DP has already stated for phones overseas incl ATT etc

It is still planned to be fixed for everyone

My Lumia 620 (Australia / NZ origin) just received Cyan update on the developer track this morning.

Though afterwards wants to install 4 older updates. Current version is 8.10.14176.243, but it now wants to install "8.10.12400.899, 8.10.14176.243, 8.10.14147.180 and 8.10.14157.200". This make sense to anyone?

Did you have 8.10.14176.243 after Cyan update, and then install the 4 updates after to end up where you are?

I updated to 8.1 and Cyan yesterday on my Lumia 520. Didn't realise an update had been available. Rally liking it so far. In particular, being able to pull down notifications is really useful and I'm loving the swipe typing. Being able to move apps to the SD card is helpful too.

Finally got Cyan on my telecom 920 with Developer Preview. Now if I could just figure out what it changes if I already had the dev preview? ;-)

I don't think there really are any. Firmware vs software. Few things like "project my screen" under settings I think - but you need a phone that has the hardware for proper support.

I still haven't bothered installing the 'old' updates after installing Cyan (detailed a few posts ago)... Anyway else asked to installed older updates after and actually done it?
