nakedmolerat: I started this thread but I will be signing out in the next week or two.
I believe my Xperia Z will replace the need of my two phones. I usually have one big screen smartphone (Lumia 920) and one tough phone (Motorola Defy).
Now I will be taking my Xperia Z at work, beach, pool, running, fishing, watching movie and play chess online! (I am tired of waiting chess.com releasing app for windows phone). I do however miss superb battery life with Lumia / Windows phone OS.
To those who have trouble with their Lumia 920, I felt sorry. My first lumia does have trouble with the camera but the replacement one has no issue whatsoever. Maybe next Lumia should be waterproof and I will be back with windows phone! Innovation is really important for mobile phone manufacturer. So much competition!

Sounds like it was re flashed with an Australian ROM ?
If so that's expected it doesn't understand the unique things that NZ telcos do to their SMS-C i.e. they don't stamp a time zone on incoming domestic text messages
We can try to get yours updated through an over the air upgrade
Telecom will release their updated ROM over the air, turning on 4G soon
I just posted the extra settings screen...
What do you suggest I do?
Go back to the Telecom ROM now and wait for the OTA update from them?
Get a different update from Nokia Care using the flashing procedure?
BTW, the extra settings says apac_australia_new_zealand ...
Thanks again.

If you need 4G? I suggest you put up with it until a solution is available
Is it caller Id not matching as well as incoming texts not being correct?
nathan: If you go back to the Telecom ROM you'll lose 4G (for now) but the caller ID will match
If you turn on settings, backup
You will get apps and text messages back http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=247755
I think for text messages to come back you need to have a hotmail/outlook account configured as your primary Microsoft account on the phone

nathan:kawaii:nunasdream: You could also ask for an exchange to a different model say an 8X? I have done that with a faulty device before, they also gave me the difference back. I have found they're a bit more willing to do that than an outright refund.
Today I bought an iPhone and put it on a 12month deferred along with the $29.95 open contract - worse comes to worst I'll just ask Harvey Norman to give me a store credit or something. What makes the matter worse is I'm simultaneously being screwed around by Nokia and Lenovo (2 weeks wait and still a motherboard isn't in stock) - it does become very frustrating that such issues that should be resolved within hours are taking weeks.
Thanks for the feedback
This is really sad for me to hear that the performance of NZ retailer has forced your hand away from WP over to iOS
For my 2c I have been personally battling away with Apple online sales NZ getting them to replace or repair an iPad 2 which data SIM slot just stopped working after the 12 month warranty, for me this has been going on for 6 months
I'm about to take Apple NZ to small claims court to make them live up to their obligations under NZ Consumer Guarantees Act
I will win because of CGA I have no doubt about that

nathan:Wade: My 920 seems to have developed a rattle, you can feel something distinctly loose inside. I baby my phone so can irrevocably guarantee it has not been dropped or inappropriately manhandled :P
Performance doesn't seem to be compromised so unsure if I put up or have it looked at, anyone have similar issue?
How hard do you have to shake it
Or does it just rattle normally?
It's probably the image stabilising camera lens which is actually floating inside the body

It's the battery - fix it as follows:

brownbox: Finally got myself a wireless charger, bloody cool. I've just realized my old 3.5mm TV-out cable doesn't work though! And it doesn't look like there's any option for HDMI output.....is this really not a priority for people?
