I started this thread but I will be signing out in the next week or two.

I believe my Xperia Z will replace the need of my two phones. I usually have one big screen smartphone (Lumia 920) and one tough phone (Motorola Defy).

Now I will be taking my Xperia Z at work, beach, pool, running, fishing, watching movie and play chess online! (I am tired of waiting chess.com releasing app for windows phone). I do however miss superb battery life with Lumia / Windows phone OS.

To those who have trouble with their Lumia 920, I felt sorry. My first lumia does have trouble with the camera but the replacement one has no issue whatsoever. Maybe next Lumia should be waterproof and I will be back with windows phone! Innovation is really important for mobile phone manufacturer. So much competition!

If so that's expected it doesn't understand the unique things that NZ telcos do to their SMS-C i.e. they don't stamp a time zone on incoming domestic text messages

We can try to get yours updated through an over the air upgrade

Telecom will release their updated ROM over the air, turning on 4G soon

I just posted the extra settings screen...

What do you suggest I do?

Go back to the Telecom ROM now and wait for the OTA update from them?

Get a different update from Nokia Care using the flashing procedure?

BTW, the extra settings says apac_australia_new_zealand ...

Actually I have issue with the camera flash. Flash only work once until you exit from the app and re-open it again.

Haven't noticed SMS issue... just caller ID not matching.

Don't really need the 4G (most of the time - specially with the coverage being so patchy) so I could go back to the Telecom ROM. The caller ID not matching is the annoying thing...

The pain is having to set up the phone from scratch after flashing it... Any suggestions to avoid this if I go back to the Telecom ROM?

I think for text messages to come back you need to have a hotmail/outlook account configured as your primary Microsoft account on the phone

Today I bought an iPhone and put it on a 12month deferred along with the $29.95 open contract - worse comes to worst I'll just ask Harvey Norman to give me a store credit or something. This is really sad for me to hear that the performance of NZ retailer has forced your hand away from WP over to iOS

I've since moved back to Mac from a PC (have yet to update my signature) but I would have been happy had Nokia did what they promised - the 'customer care' rep assured me that they would replace it. The retailer isn't really at fault given that Nokia took over after I posted on their Facebook - Harvey Norman irritated me but what enraged me is Nokia's unwillingness to even step up and address the issue given that I'm dealing straight with the source. Question I want to know is why the heck does Nokia operate in NZ if they can't even be bothered manning up and taking responsibility - fobbing it onto third parties and getting people from the middle of no where to ring me up and convince me to change my mind.

For my 2c I have been personally battling away with Apple online sales NZ getting them to replace or repair an iPad 2 which data SIM slot just stopped working after the 12 month warranty, for me this has been going on for 6 months

I'm about to take Apple NZ to small claims court to make them live up to their obligations under NZ Consumer Guarantees Act

I will win because of CGA I have no doubt about that

I'd say go for it - some of these companies need to be sent a clear message that when you sell products you can't just say once the sale is complete that "well, that's all we have to do". Btw, out of curiosity - what is the CGA say regarding the fair wear and tear on an iPad? is it the same length one expects from a mobile phone or is it treated like a laptop?

Finally got myself a wireless charger, bloody cool. I've just realized my old 3.5mm TV-out cable doesn't work though! And it doesn't look like there's any option for HDMI output.....is this really not a priority for people?

I had wondered if it were the battery as the weight shift feels about right for a loose battery, not sure I will follow suite and fix it myself, will either put up or try a warranty repair

I find the TV out and also HDMI out really useful . They are really great ways to show off the photos and videos from a day out etc. I have a pico projector which allows me to to do presentations from my phone without the need to lug around a laptop. The old Symbian and Meego Nokias are very feature rich. That's technology, one step forwards two backwards sometimes.
