HP have other devices which probably use this platform.

I've seen an MFC printer at HN that had a removable 7in tablet with wifi. The OS allowed you to print direct to the printer from the web (like there current ad) and access email... I assumed it was an WebOS device, but then HP aren't making a lot of sense to rational minds this week so I could well be wrong.

yeah agree with you HP deal with there business like a little a kid, splashed 1.2 billion, then launch a tablet, all gear up to give apple a go, then all the sudden, they say oh no we can't bet apple, let give up before we loose too much money, bunch of losers i would respect them if they give it a good go...

I would say spending 1.2 Billion on anything considers giving it "a good go".

alvin:
fab: Can anyone tell me the cheapest price they have purchased the touchstone charger and/or the genuine HP case for?
Am after accessories, but seems to be a big variation in prices?

I didn't look around but i paid $25+ and  $44+ ex gst for the cover the BT keyboard.  I read somewhere that those tiny BT keyboard selling at trademe are working fine as well..  I haven't tried them so it's up to you.  I'm tempted with the touchstone charger as well but in the end settled with the cover and keyboard (for the wife, she hates touch typing)

but again, i'll end up with all this accessories and dont have any tablet..

I got the HP cover for $39 at Noel Leeming and the Touchstone charger for $69, probably could've done cheaper if i'd shopped online or had a look on eBay but there would only be $20 in it or so combined so not too fussed.

I'm hoping I will end up with a tablet as well, I thought i'd better buy accessories while they were still around. The staff at Noel Leeming in Cambridge had all of the accessories in a back room waiting to be sent back to HP. You might be able to get a better deal if you bargain with them, I didn't have time. My total spending on my 16gb tablet is now $428, which i'm still not too bothered by, it's a reasonable price for all I have gotten so far.

Now all I need is the tablet to actually be shipped! Hoping MobiCity come through otherwise I may have some accessories to sell!

Edit to say I hope I won't have to spend any more than I have now. Should hopefully be set.

Did you have to negotiate that pricing? That's not what I have been offered for pricing?

I didn't negotiate at all. The chargers were already marked down from $99 to $69, not sure if the case was discounted.

dclegg: I have started dialog with Mobicity. Their online sales rep advised me they can offer me a wholesale price for 5 or more, but he didn't know what that is. I've emailed their sales team. Note: I am specifically interested in the 16GB model, and this is the model I indicated in my sales enquiry.

Mobicity have indicated that the order can be paid for seperately, but I would imagine they may all need to be shipped to the same address. I am happy to forward any on, but will have to insist on postage fees up front first. Alternatively, I live in West Auckland, and work from home. Anyone who is interested is welcome to pick up to save themselves postage (although I think its only fair that any postage costs incurred by Mobicity is split evenly across all buyers).

I have also asked for an indication on the maximum that can be ordered.

If anyone is interested, please let me know. DM or dclegg at gmail dot com. I will report back on progress, once I get a reply

i definitely want one! please include me!

JB HiFi are sending/have sent all their stock back to their supplier who ever that may be.  Reason for not selling apparently is there will be no warranty support from HP and they and don't want to have to meet the terms of the consumer guarantees act and cover any warranty issues themselves.

I was also told that HP were dumping WebOS. Undecided

HP have stated that they will honour warranty though...

That's what I thought too. I pointed out other retailers had sold them but the support issue was trotted out again.  I was also categorically told that HP were dumping the Touchpad because they were dumping WebOS.  This in not true either as WebOs will live on exactly how has yet to announced.

I'm not sure that I got the whole or correct story just the "official line" for an off the street enquiry.  My main reason for posting was to see if there was any other information to prove or disprove what I had been told.

Price of 32GB has dropped from $399 to $369 on Mobicity.
