Had an interesting experience this morning, phone started running slow and completely unresponsive, screen died maybe ten minutes later, phone seemed dead couldn't bring it back to life at all.... hooked it up to computer and discovered that while it appeared off it was actually running, under the logic that I should be able to force load the OS I ran nokia care suite and tried a refurb.

This is where things got slightly weird, I was running an unbranded/unreleased rom (1232.5957.1308.0003) NCS read this and told me there was a newer version (1232.5957.1308.0007) so I downloaded that and installed, I should add that this rom does not exist on Navifirm, anyway installed and now I have an official Telecom version of the latest unreleased rom, most likely the one the rest of you will get in a few months time :P

??? Nokia Care is just a "help" doc thing - "tips and tricks" and "help". Can you elaborate on that, and the "refurb" thing please?

There's a mention of this ROM being used by Nokia Care when sending out repaired units now.

uluxus: Telecom's version of 1232.5957.1308.0007 is out, which is weird.

WP Central just posted about AT&T's 1308 release today.

This ROM is up on NaviFirm, has been for a few days now. Maybe you need to clear your NaviFirm+ cache.

As an aside, it seems Nokia have owned up to the dust problem in the front facing camera [FFC] and also the proximity sensor. They appear to have a physical fix for this. Now all I need is to find out how to get this 'repaired' in NZ - not just have the dust blown out.

@coddy - you are right, I can see it now

It looks like the Nokia/wp8 update process is relatively fluid and timely, its just brutally flawed in the time it takes these updates to actually roll out Ota.

Ah, my post was more toward me having the unbranded ROM and when would the *.1308 firmware hit the unbranded devices.. I seem to have poorly worded my previous post.

However i'm impatient and will probably just flash once again to 1308 unbranded later tonight.

from what I hear the update should be available on the open market AU phones now

check for Phone Update, in Settings

I checked a few minutes after I saw the latest post on wpcentral (~20 minutes ago) saying that EU are getting the update at the moment.. However it's still telling me I'm up to date :(

I am having difficulty understanding what MS have done with WP8 and Telco Branding.

I would have thought Telco Branding would have been for options like 'Startup Screen Image',Default Proxy Settings,etc..

But it appears that they are using this to add country specific information - e.g. SMS-C, Telephone Number resolving (+64). If you dont use the Telecom branded image you have issues with at least the phone number resolving. This seems rediculous.

Lets assume you have come from AU to NZ for work, bringing your Lumia 920, you will have problems. This should not be the case. MS should be handling the country specific settings so when you move from country to country your phone continues to function correctly. Having them set by the carrier in their image is just wrong, we are in a jet-setting age, we travel, I travel and this is very annoying.

It seems too much was added to the branding.

Another example would be the Lumia 620 being sold in NZ. It is using an AU image, there is no NZ image, and it has trouble resolving phone numbers prefixed with +64. Again just wrong! MS should be handling the basics themselves. Let the carrier 'Brand' the phone with the firmware, NOT modify its basic functionality.
