nathan: My 620 got the update too, its an open market phone being sold by Noel Leemings not like the 920 with the Telecom image

i can tell you that we will be "encouraging" the operators to approve these updates faster than before

Good job Nathan.  Thanks, appreciated.

Duncan.

sm250: It would be nice if it was not just a permanent clock, but indicated if there were emails etc... In fact, I would rather that information were available without turning the screen on than a clock. Also looking forward to the double tap!

Sorry can't resist. I like my N9. It does all this.  Cool

I really doubt the clock mode is meant to be used on a 920 unless it is on a charger. The models with AMOLED displays will work with it though.

Anyone have any idea when we are getting the update? My 920 camera got worse after portico and the folks and reddit think I have a faulty camera. I'm waiting for this update to decide whether I should send it off or not. The white balance is way off and pictures always look foggy

That's a very good question. It would be good if Microsoft/Telecom/Nokia whoever are responsible for the delay could tell us when the update will be available, at least then you know.  Not sure why it takes so long considering its already available on Nokia servers.

The camera is a bit disappointing on the phone. It's great for night shots but day shots I end up with large areas of the photo with the same colour (especially noticeable on people) and the noise level is a higher than I would have hoped for.

Back home now... Here's my new version:

Nokia Lumia
Telecom NZ
OS 8.0.10211.204
Firmware 1232.5957.1308.0007

It seems the only update here is the firwmare, as the OS version is actually the Portico released in December.

It fixed the problem with the proximity sensor in calls thankfully. It hadn't been ideal not being able to end calls or use the keypad in calls since the last update.

Can you see dust behind the ear piece or in front of the front facing camera glass?

It definitely has fixed my camera. Mine has always had a white hue to all the photos, and now the colour is far more accurate in the photos i've taken. Previously only 1 out of every 4 or so photos used to be one that actually looked good, but I went for a walk earlier to test it out and the clarity is awesome. Here are some examples :)

And for reference, the white hue I was talking about prior to the update is this:

Then again, I guess I won't know for sure if it's fixed until I test it on a bright day.

I'm also hoping my battery will last more than about 7 hours of normal usage now, if that's fixed then I won't bother sending it to be replaced because of the creaking back casing

That's lens flare. It can't be fixed through software, but it can be fixed by ensuring you breathe on and then wipe the glass disc covering the lens with a clean tissue or microfiber cloth before you take photos... even if it looks clean.

No there is no visible dust in either area. The issue only arose after the last update and ceased immediately after updating the phone this morning.
