Mine is fair ripping along, I'm keen to overclock but almost can't see the point, it goes that well after aplpying the other logging tweaks.

it can't be that bad I thought there are a couple of workarounds that can be done like turning the debug logging off and overclocking it which then makes it a bit snappier

I have no issues with the actual speed of the device. I have tweaked it and it is great in that regard. What I really do not like is the user interface, which in my opinion is highly unproductive.

alvin: my touchpad finally left the US, 4 days ago (after being shunted in 4 different states) using USPS express international.. up until now, NZ post still don't have any information that my package has arrived the country.

are there any other meaning of the word express?

Does the tracking still work once it arrives in NZ though? Often once local tracking in origin country runs out the handover to NZ Post can go untracked until it ends up on your door step. Mine only just left LA this morning at 9am :/ Wont be in Auckland till around Midnight tonight so i'll be lucky if I see it on Monday.

Since the NZ post tracking system accepted the USPS tracking number (and was showing the same status in the USPS website that the parcel has left the US and is in transit to its destination), I thought the tracking number will still work here. Reading from other websites, it seems that USPS tracking is a big joke. It's just frustrating because I paid for Express International service, so I am expecting that it should be here within 5 days, which is the latest.

Tell me about it! Mine's been all over too, and the amount of hands its been through I do hope it all arrives in one piece. I'm lucky mines coming via DHL so the tracking and handover is seamless to the NZ DHL which are half owned by CourierPost here, although I did have to pay a very high price for that.

In most experiences i've had tracking unless there is a local branch of the company (i.e. Fedex, DHL etc) is pretty unreliable once it reaches here, although I suppose it depends on agreements each company has with NZ post as to how it is handled. I haven't had something sent via USPS tracked before to NZ so can't really comment too much on handover, only UPS, DHL, and Fedex which were all good with tracking.

I suppose it's mostly on topic, discussing exactly how and when we will get our touchpads! It has been quite the journey.

From my personal experience (sending Swiss watches).

USPS tracking number is useless and no, it does not work in New Zealand - NZPost issues it's own tracking number and you have to call to NZPost occasionally to obtain it (once your parcel reaches NZ). USPS is slow too: haven't noticed much difference between Int Economy and Int Express - usually takes more than a week (2-5 days for "Express" is complete BS I reckon). Price-wise - pretty different

Parcels from NZ to US go much faster though...

Wahoo - just joined the land of the Touchpad owners - now i just need the accessories! Any ideas where is best to get the keyboard from? An other acessories I should have?? Also keen for feedback screen protector or not. Normally I would but a friend was very adamant that it would do more harm (& distort the picture) than good?? Any thoughts thanks!!

Regarding the screen protector, I'm still waiting for my Touchpad to arrive however from my short play a couple of weeks ago it seems that the Touchpad has a glass screen (I suspect gorilla glass) which will be reasonably hard to scratch unlike the older resistive touch screens that by necessity had a softer plastic screen which was easy to scratch. I would be inclined not to bother with the protector as I don't see it being of much benefit.

Thanks definitely paid way more than i wanted to $415 for the 32gb esp since we know what price they paid for them, but I had spent so much time watching trademe/ebay etc I decided I should just pay a little extra and get back to being more productive with my work time! i have been watching the auctions since they started hitting the site and this was the cheapest I could find in NZ. Was going to do ebay but there didn't seem to be too much of a savings. So long story short bit the bullet at took the plunge.

Thanks re the protective screens that's really helpful!

qvc.com was selling a 32GB bundle (touchpad, hp case, touchstone) in the states for $200USD earlier today, rumoured to sell more tomorrow morning (pacific standard time). Don't know if they would take credit cards with NZ addresses but it's worth looking into for anyone that has friends or family in the states :)
