Don't know if they would take credit cards with NZ addresses but it's worth looking into for anyone that has friends or family in the states :)

Has anyone here who's cancelled their MobiCity order checked their credit card details for the refund amount?

I got charged $322.92 and only refunded $304.74. Needless to say I'm not impressed.

Were you charged in $USD? I've had this happen before - you can win or lose (usually lose due to non-refundable bank fees) on the currency exchange differences between the time of purchase and refund.

I purchased via PayPal and had the full amount refunded back to my card via PayPal. I believe I paid in New Zealand dollars if that makes a difference.

Another update: got my case from Incipio and it is DEFINITELY NOT a TouchPad case. It does not fit the TouchPad correctly, and was clearly made for an iPad.

I got mine today as well, have already contacted the 3 people who chose to buy from me with a choice of whether to cancel or not, the ports do not all line up i.e. headphone jack apparently. I'm not impressed, will be contacting customer support tomorrow but don't have my hopes up, shipping back to the US will not be worth it I don't think.

Hmmm that sucks!! Not to mention false advertising I would definite follow up on it! Now that I finally have my hand on a touchpad I am on the lookout for a case. Any ideas on the best one now??

So far my experience with MobiCity makes them look a very Michael Duck operation.

My experience so far;

1. A website that purports to be a New Zealand site without saying their prices are GST exclusive,

2. Requiring orders to be confirmed with a phone call, (Whats the point of ordering online if you need to make a phone call to confirm the order)

3. Continually revising delivery dates (why make an optimistic delivery commitment when you know it might be changed, be up front to start with),

4. Taking over week to refund a cancelled order,

5. Not refunding the full amount.

Yes I know that you cannot expect everything to go smoothly but to me there are a few too many issues here.

So far as my order was concerned I just used the default payment method, I don't remember PayPal being an option. I was surprised to see how the payment appeared on my credit card showing the amount in Euro's especially as I was ordering off a "New Zealand site" with Aussie connections. I would perhaps have expected AUD.

In this case I made the decision to cancel and while I have the expectation of getting a full refund, since it was my decision to cancel, I may have to accept the amount they have refunded so far.

What happens when MobiCity can't fulfil all the orders and end up cancelling them. If they cancel then there is no way I would accept less than a full refund.

personally I think all of the above is reasonable. I wonder is all they are doing is actually legal - maybe worth contacting the commerce commission. It is pretty deceiving I looked at mobicity and had no idea about the price being ex gst until reading this forum!
