That's a real p*ss off. I would be a tad annoyed with the supplier. As you say shipping back to the US isn't really an option. If it's a well made item then perhaps selling on TradeMe as an iPad case might get your money back.

I still haven't ordered any cases yet but am still thinking about these ones.

If I decide to buy, which I probably will, (I'm waiting for the Touchpad to arrive before making a firm decision) I would be happy to co-ordinate a group buy). They're not as cheap as the Incipio ones but come with good reviews. As I mentioned in an earlier post I would expect them to cost about $45NZD landed in New Zealand plus post/courier to each person. What ever the cost, it would be my costs with no mark up, my "profit" being able to get a good case at a good price.

sonyab: I wonder is all they are doing is actually legal - maybe worth contacting the commerce commission. It is pretty deceiving I looked at mobicity and had no idea about the price being ex gst until reading this forum!

I wondered the same thing. It's not until your order goes over $400NZD and you are about to make payment do they tell you that you will be liable for GST. Even though you are buying off a "New Zealand website" you are effectively the importer so are liable for GST. I bet not many people realise that.

I wondered the same thing. It's not until your order goes over $400NZD and you are about to make payment do they tell you that you will be liable for GST. If its not illegal its very border line - the type of thing fair go would take a strong interest in.
Not only the gst but it then pushes you over the $400 mark so you are liable for duty/customs as well as gst. If it was going to push you over that mark the best option would have been a group buy of the tablets then put them thru a clearance broker. If this ever happens again I am more than happy to do that. Thru my business I'm sure like a lot of you guys we import so no biggee to do it thru that channel so the clearance and freight would be a lot more cost effective.

I've been using the touchstone at home - very good.
It's smaller than I thought it would be, which is good.
Charging is slow but gets there.
Downsides - in portrait I can charge either way up, but in landscape (with cover on or off) it only charges "uppside down" which means the flap of the cover is lying flat in front of the touchstone, instead of over teh back.

But I love it - no cables to plug in and the exhibition mode is great too.

FYI - Amazon are listing the TouchPad as being in stock. US$275 for the 32gb, US$250 for the 16gb.

Also - In case it's not already mentioned (didn't see it) - TouchDroid have basically admitted that they're a pack of thieving scum and thrown in the towel:

Good link to a CM7 video, looks very functional. WiFi is "almost" working, gyro/accelerometer and bluetooth and some of the only "major" outstanding issues.

So, might be a functional CM7 port in the next few weeks. General consensus seems to be to leave the device in a dual-booting state so you can still access WebOS if you wish, sounds good to me.
