Anyone know what devices have this feature? Is it even available in NZ?

My understanding is they all support reset protection since Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2.

You need to be using a MS account on your phone to activate it.

"The feature is available only in the US, and only for new Lumia devices that have shipped with OS version 8.10.15127.138 or later." - yes, hence my question in the opening post.  Also my googlesauce isn't proving to be very fruitful.

Does anyone here Down Under own one of the ~$200 devices that has this function?

Surely there would be an android application (be it rooted) that can do the same functionality out there?

I have a Lumia 950 and just used the Reset Protection Status tool to check whether it was activated on my device. It is not and I do not have the option to turn it on. I suppose this in one of the features available if you select your region as USA when you set the phone up. Cheers Microsoft.

Hardly seems like a feature that should be region locked though?

maybe @nathan can shred some light?

my memory is a bit hazy sorry.  IIRC correctly this shipped as part of Windows Phone 8.1 "GDR2"

GDR2 would have been installed on Lumia 640/640XL by default I think

Just because of that one thing ? Harsh :D

Ive never had an issue with anyone trying to reset my phone, and if they did, not going to achieve anything, it gets backed up regularly and syncs everything to OneDrive. Yes, be annoying, but not end of the world. Kids havent found out how to reset it yet :D

Ok cool. You don't have to use it.
And if you're not buying because this feature is there, well iOS & Android has this feature because various states and countries have passed laws requiring this feature

IE to try to stop being being mugged for their phones

I said my memory was hazy ;)

Maybe it wasn't GDR2. Maybe your 640 has a telco ROM that disabled this

I'll try to find out.
