Am looking for a free to roam game similar to the gta series.

I've played gta, just casue and mafia. Am now looking another similar game.

Any suggestions?

Red Dead Redemption is made by Rockstar I believe. Quite a good roam free game.

It might not be in the same genre as the other games suggested, but Far Cry 2 is a fairly "free-to-roam" game.

try Prototype 1 or 2, and Infamous 1 or 2
Both fairly similar games (basically GTA with super powers), both rated highly.

I haven't played Saint's Row 3 yet but SR2 was a load of fun and IMO better than GTA IV.

"Sandbox" games is what your'e looking for..... what platform ? (PS3/PC/Xbox ?)

Red Dead is a great game on the PS3 (had it since release and still play it), Skyrim looks good as well.

The Saboteur. Basically GTA but set in WWII era France. Got it from Dick Smith during their sale for $10, best value for money game I've ever bought, loads of fun! (NZGameshop.com have the PC version for $21)

Far Drive 2 (Far Cry 2) is pretty good, but you spend a lot of your time just getting from A to B.

Saints Row is good fun, didn't enjoy the 2nd as much as the 1st, I've not tried the 3rd yet. SR4 is on the horizon too.

Read Dead Revolver was a lot of fun, and along those lines Call of Juarez, Red Dead Redemption and Gun were quite fun. Gun was pretty under-rated IMO.

I found GTA4 to be quite dull, had some good bits in it but the story was rubbish.

Just Cause 2 was even more fun than the original.

There's also MMORPG's if you like fetchquests...
