I rang my bank (ASB) about this, as I had entered my details on my PSN account before.

ASB said not to worry too much; their fraud detection team keeps an eye on things like this. And they specifically said I would not be held liable if someone made a fraudulent transaction using my details, so that's some peace of mind for me.

what is the use of changing card details on psn - the hacker(s) have already got it. and they're not going to use it to buy ps3 addon packs!

I think you've gotten the wrong end of the stick. You can't change your details on PSN at the moment, it's still offline. The suggestion is to ring your bank and change the CC details so the details they have are then useless.

ANZ/National are going to automatically sort out all their customers. Still give 'em a call if you're worried but just know that they have a plan underway.

I'm happy I never entered my card details.

I suppose this is an interesting way to find out how many people are signed up with PSN ;-)

I seriously doubt this was Anon. We'll see though.

Guess even if Anon did do it, no one wants to admit they attacked a company already struggling with supply issues after a major earthquake/tsunami. Sony haven't even got all their factories/plants open yet!

But still, they'd have to decrypt them to receive the payments, so I guess the ones using it on the days during the attack would still be vulnerable?

That's the only place they use their credit card. They have a debit card for everything else

What does the plan entail?

I sent them a message on the internet banking they said I could get it reissued for free or just keep an eye on the transactions etc.

They haven't used them at Amazon or Paypal? My one that gets used seems to usually have been used on either Paypal or Amazon in the past few weeks leading up to the fraud
