My first experience with the series was FO3 and I loved it, but wasn't so keen on NV.  Played Skyrim to death too.  Looking forward to FO4 in a big way, even though it's probably going to be like the Borderlands series - more of the same dressed in better / different clothes.  Even so, I'm excited.  My wife will roll her eyes and settle in for another month of loneliness as I disappear into another enthralling game.

You can buy Steam games cheaper via the G2A store (digital only - pay your money, get a Steam game key) but if you don't like it, Steam's money back guarantee won't apply.  I've purchased several games this way with no problems, new titles often 30% cheaper than the Steam store.  FO3 GOTY is $25 on Steam but $12 on G2A.  FO4 is $100 on Steam and $85 on G2A.
Before G2A I'd get my friends in the US to gift me a game and them paypal it back to them.  I've asked Steam why their games are so expensive in NZ and their standard reply was 'prices are set for each market'  which I guess means they are pricing around brick-and-mortar stores.  By choice (they make more money) or by legislation / trade agreements I'm not sure.  All my software is digital now, I haven't bought a software disk for a loooooooong time and none of my friends do either so this 'protectionism' (if that's what it is) seems rather pointless.

Totally loved FO3. Recently we were in Washington DC for few days on holiday. Staying in the DuPont Circle and Farragut Square area it was interesting and a bit weird using those Metro stations that feature in the game albeit in their desolated state. Their surroundings, entrances, escalators, platforms etc were all there.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I liked the original top down RPG. Bit dated now though, but great humour in it.

Are the new fallouts third person, or first?

FO3 is 1st person by default but you can switch to 3rd person, I'd guess they'll keep that feature with FO4.

I have to ask though, WHY?  3rd person is so unnatural.

Disagree, I played Skyrim, Fallout 3 in 3rd person.  I much rather play a 3rd person game.

I'm with BDAKiwi, not a fan of 3rd person.

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. 3rd person is generally better for melee type combat, stealth, or cover-based shooters.
First person is better for 'run and gun'

In Fallout/Skyrim,  you can choose any of those :)

FO4 for PS4 $89 at JB Hifi on pre-order. Tempting - but I don't have a PS4 or an X-Box (yet!).

I'm hoping my amazon one arrives at shipito on the day and I can get them to send me a photo of the code. The pip boy is less urgent.

I am so excited about this.

Got the $89 one from JB, because as cool as The EB edition is, I cant justify it for $60 more.
