A good one for 20-30 mins game time before sleeping when you are too busy to open your steam library. Not ideal for travelling, it is heavy and the battery cannot last long.
Just a geek/coder.

I disagree about the steam deck and travel, I take the train from Palmerston North to Wellington a couple of times a month and it is perfect for the trip.
The SD Battery holds the hole trip, been playing metal gear revengeance, brotato and DOS2.
Bought one of these for extra life but havent needed to use it much.

Handle9: My 1TB ssd arrived last night and I installed it and got dual boot setup. I’ve got gamepass installed now and currently downloading some games.
The Steam deck is one of the most impressive bits of kit I’ve bought in a while. It’s a lot of fun to play with.
I've been wondering about something like this, but I saw someone else has something similar. I thought it was Razer, but their edge product doesn't fit the timeline.
Found it. Asus ROG Ally.

There’s a number of different manufacturers making x86 handhelds. The big difference with the steam deck is the software. It’s so much better on a handheld than windows.
Not to mention the trackpads - it makes a big difference for me to use a mouse in games, specifically like strategy games or where it requires a lot of mouse use (Mount & Blade bannerlord for instance)
It makes the steam deck a lot more versatile for what you can play on it vs its competitors.
On your hall effect query, to be honest the comments I have seen was mostly to wait till your sticks give you issues or the dead zones get to big. I was also keen to get them replaced but I have zero issues at the moment.
Question about import/customs taxes:
Amazon has the Steam Deck at roughly ~$1K NZD and Dick Smith for $1.1K NZD. Do I have to pay import/customs taxes once it reaches NZ customs if its over 1K? Or has Amazon/Dick Smith already included that in the pricing?
Just watched a 'had it for a year' review. Holy Moly, its huge!
I'd love to rent one for a week or two.

lookout: Find the cheapest NZ retailer (looks like Expansys currently) and ask Mighty Ape to pricematch. I picked mine up for $899 doing this. Came with an NZ adapter and backed by NZ warranty / cga.
Oh awesome! Mightyape has it on backorder - not sure if they'll price match in this case. But Expansys doesn't seem like a bad choice. Thanks for your help!
