sonic1989: anyone playing demons souls? any tips 😅

I've taken a break from it, playing until dawn atm😪

Just completed my first run through! Pleased as I failed to complete the original PS3 release and gave up quite early on...

I now have that and Dark Souls 3 under my belt. Working on Bloodborne @ 60fps now.

Tips?

  1. Patience! To progress does require a certain "Zen" mindset and gains can be minimal. Step by step does it...
  2. Depending on how far in you are, it is good to try and find a "Farming" area for quick runs to rapidly increase souls. For me it was Level 4.2 - second stage of Shadowman after the first boss. Right by the starting Archstone you can run out, long-range snipe a particular monster with a bow/magic from a safe vantage point and quickly net just under 5k souls each time. Rinse/repeat for a boost.
  3. If you feel completely stuck on a an area, go try somewhere else. You don't have to do it order and depending on your character build you may find some areas easier than others.
  4. It is a tough boss but it is well worth trying to get Level 2.2 (second stage of mines/tunnels) done ASAP as the Soul can be given to Ed the Blacksmith to unlock advance weapon forging options and allowing you to use boss souls to create top-tier weapons
  5. You can always use more Endurance and Vitality in your build!
  6. Parrying is hard but an essential skill to take out heavier-health enemies - worth taking the time to practise it when you are not carrying souls and are right by an Archstone and thus are happy to die and quicly reset. 1.1 and 4.1 are good for this
  7. Secrets everywhere. Explore carefully to uncover hidden souls and weapons - often by dropping down in unexpected places.

Bloodborne isn't 60fps FYI unless I missed something?

Have received an email from Vodafone that confirming I should have a PS5 on or before December 15 !

“ This email reconfirms your order for a PlayStation5 as per the below. Your order is expected to be delivered to you on or before 15 December.
We realise there has been some confusion about orders and we apologise for any concern this may have caused.
Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy gaming on your new PS5“

It's a 'better 30' though; there were some places it slowed down on the PS4 (such as the bridge into Old Yharnam) but it no longer does.

Did anyone hear from Vodafone today regarding their failed (or successful..) ps5 order for December?

When I tried to order couple weeks ago, I was charged $99, had an order number, but no email. When queried with Vodafone, they originally told that this meant that the stock was allocated and would be issued a refund. No big deal as it's on credit card anyway.

Vodafone called today and informed that there is likely stock, and expect confirmation in next day or 2.

It wasn't 100% though.

I wonder how long it will be until you can just wander into a shop and buy one? Obviously after Xmas but how long after?

Anyone on the Post launch 2020 2nd wave pre-orders from EB Games, have received a date?  While all other retailers are stating by 15Dec.  EB saying they haven't been told.

Thanks for getting me to check! Mine says stock expected 4th of December as well now, surely we can now expect it to be shipped really soon now on the 4th!?

EB have been all over the place for me. A friend who ordered after me from the same store had his estimated release date day say end of December while mine said 12/11. He was able to pick his up on launch day while I missed out. Since then I’ve heard January, after January, and most recently “will definitely be December” from their staff on different occasions. Really confused hahaha I just want my PlayStation!

Oh really, January not that great considering they took the 2nd wave preorders in September and all the other retailers took theirs on launch day in Nov.

Can't even ask them on twitter, as the @EBGamesNZ account has been taken by a troll?

Anyone else seen the Gamers Nexus thermals? They found that the RAM got as hot as the mid 90s, which is an awfully high number. I think I'm gonna wait to bite for a revised thermal solution/model.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

90 degrees is 'awfully high' in relation to what? CPU's get hotter. If it doesn't impact reliability or performance it really is an arbitrary measure to not worry about.

Awfully high in relation to expected operating temperatures for modern memory and chips. 95 Degrees is skirting near the operating extremes for those chips, and will certainly increase failure rate and decrease average chip life expectancy. There's a reason why in any sane design you have cooling applied to VRMs, Memory and the processor at a minimum. Take a look at the thermal issues Apple laptops are notorious for to understand why this is a bad thing.

Edit: also what CPUs get hotter? You shouldn't be letting your CPU run that hot, that's absurd.
