stevenz: Anyone else think that the torture scene was a bit "too much", or am I just getting soft in my old age?
NonprayingMantis: Any idea if this means I can't get 100%, or do those random events not count towards completion? No idea if they count towards 100%, but I've failed a random event (standing round for too long listening to NPCs talk, and then they all decided to shoot me at once). A while later I passed the same location and was able to run the event again.
NonprayingMantis: so one of the 'random events' (not strangers and freaks) was a chick next to a car crash who needed to be taken to a safehouse, but I got a wanted level as soon as I picked her up (not sure if that was part of the thing or just coincidence that I hit a ped). Unfortunately by the time I lost the cops, she died so I couldn't get her to the safehouse.
Any idea if this means I can't get 100%, or do those random events not count towards completion?

Not at all, i thought it was great. It's satire.
In what way was it satirical?

The entire game is satire.
1.the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.
2.a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision,or ridicule.
3.a literary genre comprising such compositions.

stevenz: Fair enough. The issue I had was that you're still torturing a dude. I'm not convinced that it being portrayed as satire makes it any the less unpleasant.

what I find weird is the people who find a torture scene unpleasant, yet are quite happy to play the rest of the game where you murder hundreds, if not thousands of innocent people, deal drugs, and rob banks.
(not that I find any of those things unpleasant, but I wonder why people who dislike torture seem to be 'ok' with them)
