nzkiwiman:

More than 5 hours since the servers went down.

So much for today's entertainment!! What else is there to do at lunchtime now ...

Are you using Android or Apple? Was fine for me this morning.

The server problems have been an ongoing problem for Pokemon Go. Its been having problems since the release, would have thought Google Cloud (that they are most probably using) would be able to handle most any traffic...

I have been having multiple server problems this morning, and game hanging after catching the pokemon, just to have the ball stop flashing. However it seems have become a bit more stable in the last 30 mins or so.

Lucky for me I can reach 2 Pokestops from my desk, and it's in a busy office + outside the train station & mcDonalds... there's almost always a lure down somewhere within reach.

No stops within range of home, but sometimes when I am inside the position puts me just with range of one at the park at the end of the road occasionally as it is moving all over the place, so if I am quick I can tap on it and spin the thing to get more pokeballs.

Im obviously crap at catching them because I will go thru 15 pokeballs just to catch the stupid bat one that is all that I seem to get.

I have found my mojo with the bat throwing over its head.

I updated the app this morning and the ball doesn't freeze now

Servers came back online around midday, but are still very sluggish

I am trying to up my supply of PokeBalls by hitting the local PokeStops but when the one I can access from my desk, it takes ages to load the image and then says try again later..

Does seem to be a little bit variable currently.  I too was having the issue with the ball freezing after a capture.  Seemed ok at the end of lunch though.

Still seems to tie itself in knots on a regular basis for no apparent reason.  Lost a couple of km of walking which should have hatched an egg.  Also, clever developing, it doesn't count the train as "walking" for hatching purposes.  Foiled that plan of sitting on the train hatching eggs on the way to work.

Heard various numbers around this, anything over a certain speed (16KPH, 20KMH, 40KMH) and it figures that you are not actually walking due to GPS calculations (time vs distance)

Someone has just set another lure around the PokeStop I can access, so spending my time currently alternating between my actual work and catching Pokemon

Yeah bit of a PITA. I was even Jogging but I noticed that didn't count for as much as it should of either.

Driving to and from work I leave the app open and it records 1 to 2km, handy for incubating eggs. I guess it's the part of my journey where I slow down around round-abouts, traffic lights, etc.

For people on Android, it seems like using an app that would fake your GPS position might be the way to go to raid Pokestops. Anyone tried to game the system like that?

So

I'm in Mission Bay, just enjoying a Saturday beer.
The place is absolutely flooded with people playing. So many people that my mobile connection is simply dropping.

I don't think operators are coping with the load this game is generating!

I did have a try but am not a gamer so didn't really see the point.
But if you're out there catching them Pokemons please have us non players in mind as well and stop now and then so we can add test check our emails.

Thanks
Damian
