Here is my Quic referral https://account.quic.nz/refer/39513 if you are keen to change ISP and to get free setup (save $29). I will get a $50 credit if you use this. Thank you very much if you use my link but I'm sure there are quite a few others who could share the same on here, no hard feelings if you use a different link.
So - I finally completed a Dark Souls game!
Dark Souls 3 is done and dusted and I feel pretty pleased with myself. I got pretty far through the original Demon Souls, threw Dark Souls down in frustration, skipped number 2 and made it about 2 3rds through Bloodborne before leaving it to rest (for now...)
I think it was the first time I truly "got it" and found the zen and patience needed to get through it.
I am now onto Monster Hunter World (tough to get into but starting to get there) and Celeste on Switch whenever I have 5-10 minutes downtime (pixel perfect, sublimely made platformer)
Also can't wait for the new Civ expansion next week - I am going to be a busy boy!
I like strategy games on the PC when I’m playing single player and sometimes multiplayer. Usually ones that I can relate to history (but do not follow a historic campaign). Specifically, Europa Universalis IV, Age of Empires 3, Stronghold Crusader, and Mount and Blade Warband are among my favourites to play![]()
When I’m looking to play online with friends, I usually play games like CS:GO (Counter Strike Global Offensive), Brawlhalla, Warframe, Left 4 Dead 2, Rocket League, or Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
Somtimes I have a feeling to play online poker. Why not
I don’t stick to a genre. I also enjoy coasting around on GTA V, or building a base in a survival game like Rust or YLands or Minecraft. Or even managing my own company in Game Dev Tycoon, my own gladiators in Domina, or my own island paradise in Tropico 5.![]()
When I’m feeling console games, I play Super Smash Bros 4, Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 4, Animal Crossing, Pikmin 2, Pokemon Colosseum and Gale of Darkness.
I also like picking up my DS every once and a while and playing Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Pearl/Diamond.
So many games, so little time :)![]()
I saw that Crackown 1 was released for the Xbox X and I immediately went and bought it again. I had SO much fun over the weekend playing it. Every bit as enjoyable as I remembered.
Highly recommend it.
I finished Assassin's Creed Origins a few weeks ago including The Hidden Ones DLC. I think the Curse of the Pharaohs DLC comes out today or tomorrow but I'll hold off on that for a few weeks.
After that I played Horizon Zero Dawn finally. OMG, that came is a triumph! So gorgeous, especially on the PS4 Pro. Also played it's Frozen Wild DLC which was a great expansion.
Yesterday I started Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice and must have finished about 2/3 of it in one sitting. It's so good, the depiction of mental illness/deterioration is very unsettling. Especially the numerous threads of internal monologue that you can hear all the time. Not your usual game at all, but I do enjoy games that push the boundaries on what it means to be defined as a "game" these days.

Yeah, I have been playing those games as well. Well, ACO and HZD, but both are sitting about 50-85% complete. I find I get bored with games, esp big ones and usually finish them in two parts maybe even as much as a year apart.
I only recently found arrows in HZD that take external armour and the likes off, that was cool. I agree it's an amazing looking game.
@networkn there's usually a knack to the big games... they're so huge and the world is so immersive that it can often take a long time to level up to a point where you're able to make faster progress. With something like Horizon I made sure I spent a fair few hours hunting and gathering at the beginning of the game. This let me level up quickly, but also meant I constantly had enough resources to keep upgrading things - including the carry sizes of pouches etc. Once you hit around level 15-20 then all the quests become much easier and you can pick and choose which you do without it being a struggle.
It was much the same with ACO but honestly that world felt so cool and detailed that I didn't mind spending a few hundred hours over several months just living in the ancient Egypt they'd created. I took my time with that one.
Then it's nice to have something shortish like Hellblade between those big games as a kind of palate cleanser LOL. I'm mostly hanging out for God of War and Detroit Become Human now.

Yeah I did the same with HZD and Origins, I am blown away by AVO honestly. It's mind boggling. The new non combat information mode is super cool I am told.
What about Monster Hunter World? Is it good?

Reviews favourably. I didn't pick it up as I have too many games that were higher priority to finish, but I think it would be fun.

Have friends who have played since Civ 1 alot.... One played til the wee small hours and forgot about his chemistry exam in morning.
Only $20 several months back on steam.
I've decided I'm a kill all the other civilisations type player unfortunately.
