Well done on getting to Level 40 .. I am almost there again (though the last million XP seems to be going way slower than the other rest)

With the increase of Gen1 spawns, I have been trying to manually catch as many Karps as possible in order to finally get a shiny - so far no dice, and I wish I had recorded my before number of seen/caught when the event started so I could see how many I caught.

Have only done a couple of Legendary raids for Latias so far .. need to find some raiding time

I should probably not relax too much on the XP accumulation in case they raise the level cap. I still have a stockpile of lucky eggs so I will just deploy them whenever there's a double raid happening, but I'm done with mass-evolving pidgeys. That was tedious, lol. I've been enjoying all the extra Machop spawns so I can power up my two 98% and my 96% Machamp to more respectable levels.

My son has been having horrible shiny luck - he's at almost 600 Swablu without a shiny at the moment. Whereas I got another shiny Shuppet from the increased ghost spawns that came along with the Mew quest. And another shiny Aron at the local rugby club. He's very salty about it.

I'm looking forward to Community Day. I have another Mewtwo raid in the morning (number seven - I think I can say we've cracked the system) and then I think we might try a different park that's closer to home, since the weather looks a bit iffy. The Takapuna location has been great in the summer, but in the winter the wind tends to whip off the sea and make it darn cold. We have a park in my suburb with a three-Pokestop cluster, plus a fourth at the entrance, two gyms, and a good walking track for grinding those 1/4 distance eggs. There's a community centre with a covered deck that we can retreat to if it rains yet still reach a couple of the stops. And if the weather is okay and we get bored, there's another park across the road with a stop, a gym, and good walking tracks. I was walking my Mareep for extra candy, but since you can now get 14 for every Pinap and transfer, I'm not worried that I won't have enough. Ampharos is useless but I really want a pink one, lol.

Today was the day; I finally got a shiny Magikarp from a lure

When Aron comes back, I can continue the shiny hunt for one of them

Nice! My sister got her first from a lure.

We got a ridiculous number of EX passes today - seven different gyms. Even gyms that had only just hosted one. Unfortunately the EX raids are all for Monday week, so quite a few people can’t go.

I received an EX Raid pass for Marlborough Park (just like you predicted!) I'm planning on taking the afternoon off work (lucky my boss also plays and so understands).

Nice one! I had a feeling one of those would get passes this week. I’ll be there too - my son got a pass. Hooray for understanding bosses :) I’m giving myself the afternoon off too. I have a pass for Takapuna at midday.

Wait, there was another raid of EX passes? Didn't see anything about it on Reddit or in the local raid groups ..
I guess if I had received one I would have known ..

As mentioned before, the instinct group seems to have abandoned raiding .. as a result I am struggling to get to Latias raids ...

How was everyone's Community Day? Normally I walk around the Dunedin Botanical Gardens but it was closed due to winds blowing trees down; I tried a few other places before settling at a park down the road from home, and managed to snag 3 shiny Mareep (again, crap IVs). Really looking forward to Charmander and I hope my shiny luck is better..

I caught about 70 or 80 Mareep and ended up with 4 shiny. All bad IVs, but that doesn't bother me. There seemed to be a delay at the start, I didn't see my first Mareep until about 3:09pm. Apparently they extended the event for an extra hour but I didn't find out about this until 6:45pm, and by then it was dark and raining, so I didn't feel like going back out.

Delayed start worked well for the regulars at Panmure Basin as there was an EX Raid at 3pm. Extra hour was a bonus for one of my sons who had 0 shinies in regular time, but ended with 2 after extra time. I didn't think we'd end up spending 4 hours catching Mareep of all pokemon. Hope the next day is a more exciting one.

Well if you consider Charmander exciting then be prepared to be excited.

We started Community Day at Marlborough Park since the weather was looking dodgy and we thought we'd just pop up the road to the mall if it rained. But when there were no spawns (the nest there seemed to be overriding the Mareep even when they finally started popping up) we made a run for Takapuna, our normal spot. By the time we got there, Mareep were everywhere. I got 4 shinies by 6 pm but my son was panicking because he only had two and wanted the full set. At 5.57 he took off down the beach in a last-ditch attempt to find one. I couldn't keep up, but I saw his arms go in the air, and then he came running back. It had already turned 6 pm and his Ultra Ball was still doing the three shakes when he got back to me. Normally if you catch a shiny as the event finishes, it ends up not shiny. He was freaking out, but it remained shiny. If the event had ended on time, I think he would have been out of luck. As we were walking back to the green, he caught another. Since the sheep were still clearly spawning, we kept catching. I got 7 shinies in total, an improvement on my usual 6, and my son got 6. One of our guys got 20 across two accounts. The rain returned just as 7 pm arrived. We were absolutely knackered from walking around and around Takapuna hatching eggs, but everyone seemed pretty happy.

@littleheaven, that is the most dramatic post I've read here. I can easily imagine your son's anxiety.

The boy I was out with got a headache from the glare - it was really sunny and the sun was quite low in the sky - so we packed up after half an hour. Avalon Park (Lower Hutt) was crammed with families enjoying the good weather - that was the most people I've seen at the park for many years.

LOL, he made an extremely dramatic video of the moment - he was screen recording while he was sprinting down the beach. It sounds like the Blair Witch Project or something.

It only took me 23 Wailmers caught to get the shiny today; it must be the first time I have ever managed to get one so quickly after release
Still hunting Murkrow, Snorunt, Poochyena, Shuppet and the raid exclusives ... and then many multiples to do the evolutions ..

Congrats! None for me yet, but I haven't encountered too many. I have found a lot of a-grade high-CP Magikarp, though. I got shiny Shuppet on the third one after it was released in shiny form, and was quite early on Snorunt and Swablu as well, but shiny Karp took me months. Still hunting for Poochyeena, Murkrow and Duskull, I think. I am loving the extra stardust. With weather boost and a star piece on it's 562 per Pokemon. I'm also loving the extra spawnpoints that have popped up around the house and the new Pokestop at my local park that now means there are 4 stops and 2 gyms in about 100 metres. My son is at a birthday party for the bulk of tomorrow, so guess where I am going, lol.
