was busy custom building my computer when i stumbled across this. Just wondering if the specs could run new games on ultra quality. Asking because im not sure whether the AMD 4.4 ghz cpu would be better than (the well known) Intel cpu's. or whether the graphics card is good?

If I was ready to pay that much for a rig I would go with an Intel CPU.

I would also go with Intel you will save some power and some heat, those AMD's run hot and suck a lot of juice. GPU is OK I think, going on the prices though (I am not that up with the play on what is good any more), it is midrange. It is a $500 GPU. You probably need two or a bigger more expensive card for ultra now I would imagine.

If you're comfortable building your own, then I'd suggest you do so.

I'd also strongly suggest you go intel if you're looking at that price bracket. I think the only places AMD makes sense currently are APUs (for real budget gaming or HTPCs) or the FX8320 which I believe offers really good bang for buck with some overclocking.

Go Intel. Get a 256GB SSD, and bear in mind the average turn around time on PBTech PC's seems in our experience to be 5-9 working days.

Most of the customers we have who have had faults have opted to pay us to fix the PC's at their cost rather than wait.

That thing hits the recommended specs for Battlefield 4, but doesn't really exceed it by much, particularly in the video ram department.

It's a 7970 w/ 3GB, so should be fine. The recommended is a 7870. I wouldn't see much point going over 3GB, though it'll depend what resolution the OP will game at...

OP.. more power the better I say, especially for next gen games - get the beast you know you want, it will avoid any bottlenecks in your expectations! ; )

Yep, it should run BF4 on Ultra.. I'd just be a bit worried about how fast specs are going to ramp up from here, if I was spending close to 3K on a gaming rig I'd want it to go for a while.

i5-4670 will give equal or better performance for gaming compared to the FX-9370. I'd go i5 and either add a second 120/128GB SSD, or swap the one for a 250/256GB. I'd also probably prefer a GTX770 4GB over the 7970 3GB, but that's as much personal preference as anything (and will cost more than the 7970).

Yeah true that - for a gaming rig a higher percentage of that price tag should be GPU. (TBH I'd just spend less on the whole thing ;-) )

If the rig is primarily for BF4 (initially), then you're likely to get considerably more performance from an HD7000 or Rx 2xx series card?
