Okay so I am a noob when it comes to PC's which doesn't help when I am looking at buying one... Basically I want one for general internet use, and occasional gaming (minecraft).
I have been researching a bit lately and one day I would like to build my own but for now I just want something to get me on my way! So here's an offer I have been given:

GAMING PC - 19inch lcd, microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse Antec Case
AMD 6 core cpu
8gig ddr3 ram
GTX460 1gb graphics
60gig solid state HDD
1TB HDD $800.00 ONO.

To me this seems like an okay deal. What do you think? Any help is appreciated!

The CPU is an AMD Phenom 2 1090T and the RAM is Kingston Hyperx 1600mhz 8gb

To me that seems a bit expensive. I would of thought it would be closer to $400, although I might be wrong. Trademe prices are pretty rediculous sometimes though.

your prices sound crazy cheap.

a 19 inch monitor alone is going to be circa $150, so god knows what sort of crappy system you can buy for only $260 for everything.

A 2nd hand 19" LCD monitor can be bought for $40-80 (or even less) If your buying as part of a package expect price to be on the lower end.

Add monitor comes to $300ish. e8500 is really overclockable cpu. can get them up to 4GHz if they have a good cooler (like this one does).

PS: I'm not suggesting that the OP buy this computer, I am just answering your question as to what sort of 'crappy' system you can get for $260.

Well if we're talking second hand, then second hand computers can be picked up for virtually nothing if they are old enough.

I assumed he wanted a new one.

Look at the graphics card listed - it's GTX-460 (from 2010), it's unlikely to be a brand new PC.

I assumed that it is a second hand PC, and if it was sold "new" I would be highly suspicious that some of the components are infact second hand. For a second hand PC, it doesn't look like a great deal to me and I think you might get more for $800 if you shopped around. (Especially if you are pre-pared to buy a couple of the parts separately). If it is a mix of 2nd hand and brand new then it might be a fair price.

I would definately go for a PC with a better graphics card, if you're looking to play any new games or if you're interested in any sort of designing

kiwijunglist has found an excellent deal for you which would save you money over the good deal you found.

You can also meet your requirements with a $300 PC from Trade Me because Minecraft and browsing are both low-end. If you're not planning to play anything more resource-hungry then why spend another $500.

Minecraft Minimum Requirements:

CPU : Intel P4 or its AMD Equivalent (AMD K7)
RAM : 2GB
GPU : Intel GMA 950 or AMD Equivalent with OpenGL 2.1 Support
HDD : At least 100MB for Game Core and Sound Files

Recommended Requirements:

CPU : Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 (K8) 2.6 GHz
RAM : 4GB
GPU : GeForce 6xxx or ATI Radeon 9xxx and up with OpenGL 2.1 Support (Excluding Integrated Chipsets)

I'd definitely be looking for much better specs than that at $800 second hand. And like kiwijunglist I'd be suspicious if that's being sold as "new"

gpforums BST asre well worth keeping an eye on if you have access. I also try to list things on the offers and wanted here at GZ too, so you could put up a WTB there and see what people have. I seem to remember someone selling an i5 HTPC (which was a really bloody good system) for $600 not that long ago. Remember generally keyboards\mice\screens are pretty easy to find and cheap so even if you just look for a tower you can add to it as needed.
