24th October I believe. I for one will be partaking. Looks like no DX10 though but I guess that means settings can all be higher :)

Coming out on X360 & PS3 at the same time

Any fans here?

Huge fan (of gaming generally)

The question is, whether to get it for the PC or the 360.

If there is any serious multiplayer potential, then for me it's 360 -otherwise PC.

Well I only have a pc so it will be that for me. What's the situation for mods, expansions, etc with the consoles? I would have thought it limited compared to PC (noob question, I have neither ps3 nor 360)

According to this: http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/877/877842p1.html

"Ubisoft's upcoming open world shooter set in Africa, will feature 16 player multiplayer in addition to its single-player game. Eurogamer reports that Far Cry 2's multiplayer game will feature "persistent rewards and experience levels like Call of Duty 4."

Gamers hoping for online co-operative play will be disappointed to learn that co-op is not in Far Cry 2. Patrick Redding, the game's designer, said that the online multiplayer will have different classes to choose from, but there is no word yet on how extensive and different these classes are from one another. "

Hi.  Well you typically have downloadable content, such as new levels; patches; etc.  But yes, it is far more tightly controlled, and you wouldn't really call it mods, like what you can get in the PC community.

I have to say though, Xbox Live is (in my opinion) the superiour platform for online gaming.  Having said that, being in New Zealand we are not ideally located -suffering lag/drop outs when gaming with people from overseas.  That's not an issue limited to just consoles though.

Anyway, I've made an instant liar out of myself as I've just pre-ordered FC2 for the PC (collectors edition).  I'm also picking up Crysis Warhead tomorrow.

Perhaps oddly, I prefer to use the 360 controller, so am very hopeful the FC2 will support it (Crysis does)

That looks awesome. Had fun playing Far Cry looking forward to this one. PC is the way to go imo when it comes to first person shooters. Nothing bets aiming with the mouse.

Problem is, I don't game while sitting at a desk.  A mouse/keyboard is completly impractical.   Also, I've been using gamepads for quite a few years, so for me, that is what I'm used to -I will agree though, that a keyboard/mouse provides far greater accuracy -but that is only really important if you are playing against other people using the same interface.

Although it looked fantastic Far Cry was quite the boring game. However, if my laptop can run FC2 then I would buy it.

I'm kind of disappointed that Jack Carver from the first one isn't in it. Aparently, Ubisoft did some studies and found that not many people took a liking to him.

Maybe those people only saw the Ewe Bol movie :P
