I have a NAS connected to my router, and for many years it works fine ... can be seen on both my desktop, and my TV-attached media player.

Using an Android tablet and the VLC app, I can see/access the NAS also with no problem.

However, fired up laptop, ensured all network discovery settings correct, but no NAS shows!

Any ideas please?

Can  you try and access it directly, by entering it's IP into Windows Explorer?

eg: "\\192.168.1.56" or "\\<yourNasName>"

@gcorgnet ... yep, using the IP address I can access the user interface of the NAS.

Problem not solved ... cannot see the NAS files in File Explorer.  Cannot map the drives either as they do not come up as selectable network sites.

re boot the NAS and the laptop, it sounds like the file sharing protocols (likely SMB) have got all fouled up ..

so you said  you can see the "NAS Interface" which seems to indicate you entered the IP in a Web Browser, not Windows Explorer. Have you tried that?

Rebooted both ... no change.

Windows Explorer is a browser ... do you mean File Explorer?

OK, so how does one enter an IP address into File Explorer (that's the name that pops up when I hover over the icon 😄)?

Can you manually mount it as a network drive?

Went to mount as mapped or network drive BUT the NAS does not show up as selectable, nor does entering manually the name or IP address do anything ... just cannot find/connect messages.

Ironically, the laptop and tablet both show the USB external drive I have connected to the router (used for back-ups).
