Does anyone have a simple solution to fixing CAT5e/RG6 cabling to underfloor joists? I can get a cable tie around a bearer ok. Cheers John

There are also metal versions which have a nail in them. You bang the nail into the joist & fold the metal around the cable. Looks tidier but who cares seeing it's under the floor.

what about looping blue packing strap (or similar strap type material) around the cable and using a staple gun to staple to joists

yep those aluminium ones are probably the cheapest - i assume corys/ideal electrical/js russell should have them, or there are the plastic ones like these from dick smith

Thanks people. Yes the metal ones probably would be the go even though they are usually reserved for AC. Depends on the amount of cable bunched together. On some runs I have 2x CAT5e + 2 RG6. It would be nice to have something like those plastic clips that are found on the back of patch panels, that you could tack or screw into the joist.

Those are the exact same ones we used when running cable from the garage to the house and they work great. Everything was set up in less than 45mins (we ran about 100M cable)

those are the same as what was supposed to be at the end of my DSE link.... but there were only 20 of them for $6.... always best to go to ideal/jsrussell/corys for these sort of things lest you get fleeced :)

$6 is a ripoff! I've picked my last few lots of cable clips like those pictures from one of the local $2 type stores. Packs of 100 for $2!

Um, you can get double clips instead of those single ones, and big enough to NOT crimp or deform the cable. Plastic saddles are more expensive (normally used for conduit) but would allow you to iinstall more cable bundles in future. Whatever you do, dont staple the actual cables, or stretch or kink or deform the cables in any way. Watch the bend radius too.

Time to find a new industry!
