Thanks for that mate. when I came home tonite checked the jackpoint where the router connected and there's a 'S' letter sticker on it, does that mean anything? It's impossible to reach 2D, so I'm going to purchase my android box next week and will give it a go with wifi if it's bad I'll get the master filter connected and jackpoint fixed from you if you don't mind?
Do you have a deal for Geekzone users? and I live in Te Atatu

EDIT: is there a way to see if I have a master filter? I'm asuming I do as not all my jackpoints work? I have that Fritz box

Cheers for that, I already paid for wire maintenance is that what you mean? I just want to know if I have master filter and why not all my jackpoints not working?

if they didnt come into your house or instruct you to use a specific jack point in the house its highly inlikely you have a master filter

No one came home, I just called them and asked why not all the sockets not working they said it picks the most reliable one, or something like that. Do you think installing a master filter will help boosting the speed? My main issue is I want the socket in the living room work.

then you are probably going to need to pay someone to sort it out for you.

a master filter may help, but no one could guarantee that

It will both improve your speed and let you put the working socket where ever you like.

For naked VDSL you don't probably need an actual master filter, just disconnecting all the unused sockets will do the job, but it depends on how the house is wired up (star or daisy-chain).

To be honest if 2deg don't offer the Master Filter install, you would be well advised to get someone in to do it.

You have made no mention of how good your new VDSL connection is.

You need to know this before you decide whether to spend money on re-wiring / master filter install.

To quote PeterReader:

Agreed.

My point is that if the OP has a good VDSL connection in the wrong place, that is his/her problem.
But if the OP has a bad VDSL connection in the wrong place, that is 2Degrees' problem.

My point is that if the OP has a good VDSL connection in the wrong place, that is his/her problem.
But if the OP has a bad VDSL connection in the wrong place, that is 2Degrees' problem.

hi mate this is the test i just did, router is right next to me. looks like there's no difference then ADSL. when they first installed it download was 10mbps
