Yes, I installed the WebPro v3.01 patch, and no, I can't ping from my Palm. 'Error timeout (0x1212)'

I tried setting the IP for my T3 to automatic; didn't work, then I tried setting the device IP to one on our network's range; didn't work, both in conjunction with the 'Query DNS' option on; then I tried both IP settings with the actual DNS address entered, still yeilding the same result, a DNS query timeout for WebPro. I just can't figure out what I'm missing...

On your Palm leave all setting as in the guides. Only enter the DNS on your Bluetooth virtual adapter on your computer. Is this your current setting?

I tried doing this as well, didn't work. I don't have a problem connecting with 'Bt to PC' or 'Bt to LAN' (two connections I have) but I still get a DNS timeout error each time I try to use WebPro. I tried only setting the DNS address on the Bt Network, but it didn't help. I can't change the IP address of the actual LAN connection or else I lose the Net.

Can you PING an IP address? Instead of www.wired.com can you ping 209.202.221.21?

If the response is positive, then somewhere on the way there's a firewall blocking UDP DNS packets from your Palm to the internet - andI'd start looking at the local computer for this.

No, I can't ping anything, (and I already tried Wired.com) I keep getting timeout errors, and I already inquired about the firewall and the admin said it's not configured in a way that would block my Palm...

I really need help getting this to work. Here is my setup:

Belkin FT8001 BT Adapter (100m) + Tungsten T3 + Win2k + Office LAN

On the PC:
Belkin software is installed. I have all the lastest Windows Service Packs. In Network and Dial-up Connections, I have my 1) Office LAN, 2) BluetoothConnection (Dialup), and 3) Bluetooth Network. Office LAN has ICS enabled for the Bluetooth Network.

Office LAN settings - IP: Automatic / DNS server: Automatic
Bluetooth Network settings - IP: 192.168.0.1 / Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 /
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 / DNS server: 192.168.1.1

On the T3:
I have two connections -
BT to LAN settings: Connect to: Local Network via Bluetooth via Device: Belkin
Details - Speed: 115,200 bps / Flow Ctl: Automatic
BT to PC settings: Connect to: PC via Bluetooth via Device: Belkin
Details - Speed: 115,200 bps / Flow Ctl: Automatic

Network - Bluetooth LAN: User Name: (none) Password: -Prompt-
Connection: (either of the above, both connect successfully)
Network Details:
Type: PPP / Timeout: Never / Query DNS: 192.168.0.2 / IP: 192.168.1.1 / No Script

My dilemma:
I am able to a successful connection message each time I click Connect and sign on using one of these connections. I cannot, however, ever connect to anything using the latest version of WebPro (3.01a). I also cannot ping from my T3. I always get the same error: "DNS lookup timed out ... (Comm. 8)"
I asked my network admin if the firewall may be blocking me, and he said it's not configured in such a way that would inhibit me from connecting with my T3. I've tried every combination of Connections/IPs/DNS addresses that I could think of and nothing work. Of course, BT is enabled on my T3 and it's Discoverable and Connectable. Please, please help me. I've put more hours into solving this than I'd care to admit.

Neoesis, why are you using a DNS address on your Palm? On the T3 only, leave all fields automatic, and enter a script

May be a proxy sever problem. T3 has a default proxy server set in WebPro (some palm server). This should be off, unless.......

Your PC requires a proxy to get IP access, in which case it could work if the proxy in WebPro is set to that address.

I have a similar setup with T3/Bluetooth to PC and LAN via either Wi-Fi or Ethernet (but not together, have to reset the shared connection to use either. A bit of a pain, but at least it works.).

Good luck,

Hello there...here Eduardo from Argentina...
I had the same problem and it was magically resolved with Mauricio's instructions.
Anyway, from time to time (I would say every day...) something happens and the script is no longer available. So I have to write down the script again.
My question is as follows: Is there any way to save the script in order to re use it in case it's needed? Until now I've been saving it as a Note of my Outlook, and re enter it again manually.
Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks ;-)

Eduardo, it sounds like a faulty system... A hard reset and restore of your data would be a good idea. Make sure you have a good full Hotsync before doing this!

How did you get it to work? I also have a T3 that I set up exactly like the example here, including the script, yet it won't get an Internet connection. I connect to the WinXP Pro PC fine using these net setups, but cannot ping anything. I also tried pinging my host's DNS server using its IP address, but get the same 0x1212 timeout error. ICS is set according to this site's directions.

Bluetooth setup on the PC:

IP: 192.168.0.1
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway and DNS both blank (PC connects directly to Internet through a cable modem)

I use Norton Internet Security, but the T3 won't get to the Internet even with NIS disabled. The Bluetooth drivers are WIDCOMM 1.4.3.4.

I've worked on this for days trying everything of which I can think. All suggestions welcome.

Yu say it won't get to the internet. Are you getting a timeout? If not, have you tried pinging?

You still need the DNS on the Bluetooth adapter. Run CMD and IPCONFIG /ALL to find your ISP's DNS addresses to enter there.

I did as you suggested and added the DNS servers to the Bluetooth network TCP/IP properties in WinXP Pro. I can now ping the DNS address directly from my T3, but I cannot ping other IP addresses directly, nor can I ping site names. I get this error:

Request timed out
Error timeout (0x1212): time=0ms
Error timeout (0x1212):

The network log on the T3 comes up on connecting with:

Service name: Bluetooth
Local IP address: 192.168.0.5
Gateway address: 0.0.0.0
DNS addresses:

192.168.0.1

After my first successful ping of the DNS server by using its IP and subsequent failures at other sites, I can no longer ping the DNS server again either.
