Hi, so have you actually seen inside to confirm the cable is unbroken and just moves through, or is there infact a splice as there should be so that it can be re done if needed.

Obviously it makes not a bit of difference from a tech perspective but I think its required by Chorus's install spec and makes functional sense.

I watched the guy run it. :)
He unrolled the fibre from the spool so he could estimate how much he’d need to get it into the room where the ont was going and then cut it off the spool.
Then feed it through that box and into the roof space and attached the box to the roof.

The cable has TE Connectivity SM drop cable G657A2 printed on it in case you’re wondering.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Hi, so that does not surprise me, but clearly, defeats the purpose of the ETP.

We’ve ended up with more or less the same thing at ours - a single span all the way from the pole to the cabinet inside. The only join along that length is the pigtail at the end that connects to the ONT. We don’t have even the white box in our case.

I actually prefer it that way, to avoid having the ETP and conduit front and centre on the house. But yes, more work required if the cable needs replacing in the future.

What I’d really like is to get my fibre and power underground, but not easily achieved unfortunately.

Same here as i ran all the conduit and watched them do it. only splice was at the pit on the street and in behind the ONT. Still have the ETP on the outside of the garage just with the cable running through it.

Guess if there is an issue they will just cut it and splice it there
