I've read in a Pocket PC Thoughts thread that another user had problems with this new version. It worked ok after a hard reset and install without using the old stack first. Perhaps something in the registry, created when using the old stack was left...

Just an idea. Have you looked at this article?

Hi There,

i've just bought a iPAQ 3970 with Bluetooth integrated inside and since the 1st day, my aim is to connect it to my Local Area Network as part of the Microsoft Workgroup.

But it seems not so easy as the 1st thing i tried to do is to give an IP adress to the iPAQ but still did not success to give the one i wanted, for example 192.168.6.50 as my network adress is 192.168.6.0

I have a network with static IPs with a NAT Server.

I've succeed to access internet from my iPAQ with the ActiveSync tool but i'm unable to configure a desired static IP.
In fact, by default there is no adapter loaded on my iPAQ so there is no IP adress and when i start ActiveSync from My Blue Icon on the iPAQ, it loads the ppp1 adapter with :
IP Adress : 192.168.55.101
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.55.100
Primary DNS : 127.0.0.1

With this kind of configuration, i can access the net, download files, access shared folders (with a 3rd-Party Soft for this last action) but it does not work as i would it to do.
I can make a DNS resolution but i have no respond packets to my ping or tracert requests.
I can not ping the IP adress of my USB Dongle adapter on my distant PC.

I've found this site that seems to be great with people having good knowledges so i hope to success if of course it's possible as i begin to doubt with Microsoft Pocket PC.
Why to develop hardware mobility, if to configure it with software it's a real pain in the ass ?????

So after reading this post, i discover the post of David Hettel about BT for CE v1.3.1.46 and i'm asking for people who already have installed it :
-> is it possible to configure an IP adress for the Bluetooth PAN on the iPAQ as i did not success with the Basic Bluetooth Manager of the 3970.

Does someone already tried to connect a iPAQ on a Microsoft Workgroup and access shared ressources ???

Is it possible to access internet from the iPAQ by launching the Bluetooth Network and working with the IP protocol without using the ActiveSync tool ???

Can someone tell me where is it possible to find iPAQ Network stuffs, answers and integrations as after one week searching the net, i did not find something really clear.

Don't know if i'm clear enough as i'm new in Bluetooth and iPAQ stuff.

Regards

laxyboy

I have a broardband internet connection, an ipaq h2210 and a belkin usb bluetooth adaptor and im trying to get internet access on my ipaq.

but i cant set up ICS because of the ip conflict thing.

ive read the bluetooth connection should be on 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and connection default gateway as 192.168.0.1.

but what should my lan connection for my pc should be set as to enable ICS? when i try changing it to 192.168.0.2 or something for the ip it looses connection to the net completely.

help?!?

In your case it seems the address ICS will use is not available because it's used to connect your computer to the network. An alternative could be using Winrouter Lite.

Im in a similair predicament.

I have an IPAQ 2210 and have just bought a Trust BT120 USB bluetooth dongle.

The intention was to plug in and sit back surfing from accross the room.

How wrong was I.

I have read articles which say connect via network or some that say use the internet connect.

My full network consits of 1PC with the internet via a USB cable modem using internet connection sharing i then have a laptop able to surf.
I now also have the usb dongle so after following all the instructions i can get a network connection and an internet connection via bluetooth but when ever i type a URL i get "the page you are looking for cannot be found" if i use MSN i get a message saying you are not connected to the internet.

does anyone have any ideas pls ?
