My point is that if the OP has a good VDSL connection in the wrong place, that is his/her problem.
But if the OP has a bad VDSL connection in the wrong place, that is 2Degrees' problem.

That is a very bad VDSL connection - the upload speed of 4Mbps tells you that it is VDSL connection.

The minimum acceptable speed for VDSL is 15Mbps down, 5Mbps up.

The problem could be your distance from the exchange/cabinet &/or faulty house wiring.

Please look into your router and post your modem DSL stats (we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin).

This will give give us a clue about what to do next.

only if the problem isnt inside the house

i suspect the bad speed is related the the jacks not working because of the wiring in the house.

Has Chorus's attitude changed for VDSL installations? I thought a master filter install was compulsory - certainly was when we had it installed 24ish months ago.

looks like I'm in trouble? do you think 2D has any responsibility on this or is it just bad wiring and no master filter etc? are we talking about re-wiring or just maintenance?

Do you have a 7490 Fritzbox?

Do you have a 7490 Fritzbox?

You have low attainable data rates, upstream and downstream.

I find it hard to believe that 2Degrees would install VDSL if your connection was that slow outside your house - this strongly suggests that your internal wiring is faulty (as it often is in NZ homes).

If I were you I'd get my house rewired to a single new VDSL jackpoint in a location of your choice. This would not be covered by "wire maintenance ".

If your VDSL is still slower than 15/5Mbps then you should go back to ADSL (rewiring would improve your ADSL, so it wouldn't be wasted).

Just my opinion. I hate slow

Stress that you didn't get a proper install as nobody came to your house.
I don't fancy your chances of getting free rewiring.

They cannot charge you for VDSL speeds if you are only getting (slow) ADSL speeds - so at the very least you should be entitled to cancel your VDSL contact without penalty, and go back to ADSL (with the same modem/router).

I have no idea what rewiring would cost you, but I paid my ISP about $99 two years ago - expect to pay more.

I've been on the phone last 25 min and when it was my turn line just dropped, that happened countless times. This is really starting to piss me off I might just cancel the contract I don't care if they have the best deals if customer service is slow and stupid I'm out.

Ok I finally managed to talk to someone! They said if there's a fault and house needs rewiring it's $200. Technician said she'll run a line test today and I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if the line is faulty or not. And she said if I have naked broadband I dont need a master filter. She also sugested that I should connect with an ethernet cable and run the speedtest again and if I get more than 10Mbps download that means I'm on standart VDSL connection.
So if none of the above happens does that mean I'll need rewiring?
