greminn: OK so just to clarify (i think i have this correct) - the electrician has wired this up wrong :)
The wall sockets show that this is A-spec, but both are incorrect. We have orange wires going into green sockets and green into orange - this is the issue.
Also at the patch panel end (at lease the wall sockets are correctly numbered). We have patch port 11 wired as B-spec and patch port 12 correctly wired as A-spec.
So.. we need to change patch port 11 to A-spec and get them to fix the wall sockets?
I can do this myself, but really i paid them todo a job right?

I think I see the problem. Apart form some things being wired to T568A and others T568B, Hubbell jacks are notorious for being difficult to punch the wires in fully. The jacks appear to not have the wires punched right to the bottom of the slot and therefor have no electrical connection at all. I suspect that sparkies never tested this.
I also notice that the cable has excessive jacket stripped off and missing its stuffer cap. It should be terminated with minimal wire exposed and finished by putting on the little plastic cover that comes with the jack. If the wires are not punched in fully the cap won't stay on very well, so this may be why they didn't use them (instead of fixing the punchdown job).
PS: don't use a Krone tool, use the correct 110 punchdown tool.
