Leave your end as it was before and just ask 2D to enable the Static IP. Then the session will drop and come back with the static.

That's exactly what I thought. I did try again last night, but each and every time they would attempt to add the static IP, the connection would drop and not return until the static IP was removed from the account.

Sounds like 2D need to sort their end out.

Every ISP will work the same either PPPoE or IPoE and then the ISP will allocate you a Dynamic or Static IP dynamically.

That's what I was told by someone else as well. 2degrees doesn't seem terribly open to working much further with me on that, however.

I've decided to give up on using the ER-X for this and I'm getting a Fritzbox instead.

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask. I have setup a new ER-4 on an untagged pppoe UFB connection and it is working just fine.

I'm changing providers to 2degrees and I can't see how to retrospectively add a vlan tag to the existing pppoe interface via the gui. Am I missing something or should I just delete and start over?

Dashboard -> Add Interface -> Add VLAN is probably what you're after. Set VLAN ID to 10, interface to your WAN Ethernet port (probably eth0, maybe eth4), and give it a description like "Internet (PPPoE)".

It's school holidays and I am going to be away for the reprovisioning. To preserve holiday harmony I'm leaving a config file for upload once ready. Does this look like it will work?

Edgerouters (any, even when cheaper as some consumer routers) are not plug 'n' play. You can't exhaustively use their potential when you're not ready to invest time to study at least the basics.

Otherwise when scratching your head too often, just go with an "off the shelf" router and be happy.

All good mate, no offense was taken. I was just trying to keep the wife and kids happy and jumping the gun a bit regarding setup before heading off on a work junket. I've left behind a previously configured pfsense box which I know works. Shouldn't be too much of an issue to swap it over when the interwebs break and I'll properly configure the ER-4 when home as I should have resigned myself to in the first place :)

I have EdgeMax PoE. I locked myself out of my router so did a factory reset upgraded to v2.0.4 firmware but not having any luck getting back online.

I was wondering if someone could confirm for me the above settings are correct for Spark fibre.

There's definitely something funky going on for some reason. I ended up reflashing my router to 1.10.9 after having some issues with the latest. Running through the reconfig on 2degrees, everything works fine until I set up IPv6. The config first states the slaac and host config already exist (even though they weren't set up) and then wipes my pppoe settings entirely, forcing a system config reset.

No, 2Degrees supports 1500 MTU for PPPoE, with 1508 needed for the eth port and vlan 10 to support that. There is overprovisioning on the fibre connection to allow this, and it is necessary for IPv6 to work correctly. And it also allows IPv4 to work without having to fragment your larger packets (> 1492 bytes) into two smaller ones.
