So appears they have looked, and didn;t see anything to show there was a breach.

@michaelmurfy I skipped from IPv6 onwards as it threw an error the first time I tried when setting interfaces and I had to do a hardware reset to get the PPPoE back. Is this ok to skip?

IPv6 is now in the wizard of you run it with the latest firmware version, which is why the other user and I were asking whether the whole ipv6 section is even still necessary. Hope you get a response because I’m still confused.

Yes, it is in the wizard and it is also in the OP because it is handy to know for people who didn't originally configure it in the wizard or need a reference.

Edit: @djotter You're posting from an IPv4 address. If you wanted IPv6 enabled then it is worth following through the steps in the OP. Just take note to the interfaces. It should be essentially copy-paste for 2degrees however.

eth0 - Ethernet 0
vif 10 - VLAN 10

Also per the start of the instructions clear off any potential IPv6 configuration.

If you don't "save" then doing an "exit discard" and rebooting will bring the Edgerouter back up if it fails.

Following up on previous posts. Summary - I want to setup an Edgerouter X with PPoE WAN on eth3 (rest as switch ports).

Using the wizard I only get the option of eth0 or eth4 for PPoE/WAN port (interestingly Chrome gives these two options, but Safari seems to have a bug and gives me a bunch of non functional options).

I ideally don't want to use eth4 because that can also act as PoE out - which I might use for an AP if required.

I don't want to use eth0 because that acts as my PoE in, which doesn't come from my WAN.

Any suggestions as to how to go about using eth3 for WAN?

Yes, i ran the delete commands first, they all error out as you say they would.

My setup is:

eth0 WAN

eth1 Computer1

eth2 Computer 2

eth3 Access Point

eth4 Access Point (point to point bridge to another building)

I have been using the config on the left, do I need to use the config on the right? Or can I use switch0 in place of eth1 in the ipv6 part of the tutorial?

I was content to just stick with IPv4 and call it a day, but 2degrees wont give me a dynamic public IP like Trustpower did. So to access my home server without paying $10/mo for a static IP, I need to figure out IPv6. 🤣

eth1-eth4 is linked to switch0. There is no point in your configuration with not just specifying switch0 for all LAN related stuff. Linking eth1 and switch0 where eth1 is still a member of switch0 won't work as it is still a switch port.

Please follow the warnings on the configuration - in your case - specify switch0 and not eth1. Don't just copy and paste it as you will break things if you do.

Thank you for your help michaelmurfy, i appreciate your time. I can't get it to successfully commit and the 'exit discard' command + reboot didn't work, so three hard resets and reconfigures are enough for one day 🙂 I might come back later.
