Can anyone tell me if the IO Gear - GBU301 can connect my PC with a Jabra BT250 headset? IO Gear's website does not specifically say that their device is compatible with the headset profile, so I am not sure. I would like to be able to use the Jabra BT250 the way Geekzone described this set-up (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=903)

Thanks!

Probably not. The Download Driver link shows version 1.2, which does not support the Headset profile.

You better off with a Bluetake, TDK or Belkin.

Wow, that was a good place to look. Is it generally assumed that drivers lower than 1.3 do not support the headset profile?

TDK did support the profile, but with some registry modifications and a set of drivers distributed from their website. Other manufacturers did not include the drivers at all.

1.2 included LAN Access, 1.3 included headset profile and Network Access, 1.4 included HID (mouse and keyboard).

I think I am going to buy the Belkin F8T001 USB adapter. According to Belkin's website, their drivers are already up to v 1.4.

Another question: when new profiles come out, can I just update the drivers on my PC, or do I need to buy an new USB device?

Thanks again!

Make sure you buy the new version of F8T001, the one without the aerial.

You should need only to download the drivers and install the updated ones.

More questions regarding the Jabra Bluetooth headsets...

What will the power/action button do when I have the headset paired with my PC (will it just be a power switch)?

Also, can the headset be paired with my PC and wireless phone at the same time?

Thanks!

If you have your Jabra connected to a computer and press the power button it'll disconnect.

Nope, you can only have one device paired with most headsets these days. The GN Netcom GN 6110 is the first one that allows multiple connections, but is more focused on business and call centres.

Here is another question:

Which one of these adapters would you buy?

Linksys USBBT100 -or- Belkin F8T001

They both seem good, but I'd like an expert's opinion.

Thanks!

I really don't know about the Linksys, but the Belkin is a good one - I've tried it myself.
