Hello,

disclaimer: I'm not tech savvy so I'm hoping for some help.

I just had VDSL installed in my home with a new modem, the Huawei HG630b.

I play destiny on xbox and my latency bar is still red...according to some forums I have read, by obtaining a static IP address and port forwarding will help this issue. Also when I look at the network settings on my xbox one it says im under a moderate nat. So I'm trying to work through the issues.

First problem is my static IP address, spark has assigned me one but I don't know how to assign it for the Huawei HG630b.

Do I assign it under the basic - LanHost settings IP address and leave the subnet mask default? or is there somewhere else I need to go?

any help is appreciated!

The static is assigned direct to your connection, I assume you would not need to configure to your modem as its already there.

go to whatismyipcom or if that fails, as it can, Google what is my ip and check the top left, "Your Public IP address is"

If you look in "Status > WAN > Network" under Settings is the IP address listed the static IP address they gave you?

no its different, also in my xbox one network settings the IP address is in the same number range as the LAN DHCP server IP address numbers on the Telecom HG630b Home Gateway, when I did this before on a different modem the xbox would automatically pickup the static IP address once it had been assigned

my public address is different from the static address spark has assigned me, in the Telecom HG630b Home Gateway under status > WAN > settings > TNZ_VDSL > IP address, its the same as my public address not the static address.

As tdgeek say your IP is assigned to you from their end. You'll need to contact them for set it up properly.

What you need to do is set a static (local) ip address on the xbox, and then port forward for the chosen ip address all the relevant ports. Someone else can probably explain in depth

port forwarding so once you have assigned a static ip to your device you can port forward it

Changing DHCP range, you shouldnt need to do that just know what the range is so you can manually specify the IP address on the xbox

Spark assigns your static iup address, if its been setup you may have to wait over night for it to be applied

i dont believe there is a way to add a static IP address to your LAN devices (PC xbox etc) from the modem you have to do it on the device

What is the static we assigned? I assign most of them, altho on hols as from today. We have only one team that assigns them, you will have got an email from us?

When we assign one, our email states it may be up to 2 days, but unless we have a glitch, it will already be assigned by the time the email is sent, you just need to restart the modem if on xDSL. If on fibre, that could be a few hours as we have to do another process. You don't need to restart the modem on fibre, when we attach the IP, we kick you off, to allow the IP to attach, although you wont notice that in all likelihood as fibre restarts quickly

So here's the full story....

I used to be on adsl at my old address, asked for a static IP address, spark gave me one, I had a Technicolor modem, I then went into the gateway in the modem assigned the static IP address to the LAN1 port, where the xbox one is plugged into, the xbox console picked up the static IP address and then we port forward the required ports for xbox no problems.
We then move physical address, get vdsl and a new modem (Huawei HG630b)I call spark they say that the same static IP address is still current, which leads me to my current situation, different modem and im completely lost on how to do the same thing.

You are lost yes. The static IP address assigned by Spark belongs on the WAN interface of the router. You can give the Xbox whatever static local address you wish (on same subnet as router) and forward ports totally irrespective of the static public address.

are you saying Tdgeek that if I cant see the static IP address under status>WAN>network>settings>TNZ_VDSL>IP address then it hasn't been assigned? because at the moment it is my public address and that isn't the same as my old static IP address

What you want to do is go to on the Xbox One:
Settings->Network->Advanced Settings->IP Settings->Manual

Then set the IP, you want to set an IP between 192.168.1.64 and 192.168.1.253 (doesn't matter what you choose, everything else is probably on auto anyway).

Then as from the Spark site as mentioned by Jase2985 above:

Log in to the web management page
From navigation tree, click Advanced
Click NAT
Click Port Mapping
In the Type select Customization
From Interface drop down select your Broadband type e.g. TNZ_VDSL
Choose your Protocol e.g. TCP/UDP
Leave Remote host field blank
Set External start port to required port (e.g. 3389)
SetExternal end port to required port (e.g. 3389)
- Note: The port 3389 is the port you are trying to open, this will be different from above values. So you will need to know which port you want to open.
SetInternal host to the computer's LAN static IP address (The IP you specified in the Xbox One before)
- Note: You need to put this LAN IP address as static before attempting to set port forwarding (e.g. 192.168.1.xxx)
Set Internal port as required (e.g. 3389)
Set Mapping name to a unique name (e.g. Remote Desktop Connection)
Click Submit

These are the ports you are wanting to forward:

Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
Port 500 (UDP)
Port 3544 (UDP)
Port 4500 (UDP)
