Hi, after hours of trying to get my NetComm modem (supplied from Trust Power) to play nice with my Linksys WRT1900AC, I've decided to give up and just buy a modem.

I'm looking for recommendations for ADSL 2 modems to go with the Linksys. Preferably modem only (no wireless, single port if possible (are they still available in New Zealand?)), Easy to set up as a bridge (with minimal issues), and Reliable, with good speeds for p2p.

What do you think? It's hard to research with google, everything I find doesn't seem to be available here.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks I actually just saw these. Seems like they're a decent price too.

Well, in my experience, they just work - until they just don't work.  Mine has just died after about 3 years use.  Tried everything, but will no longer connect to ISP.

If you live in Wellington, you can have my old Vigor 120 for nothing - works perfectly after 5 years.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm in Auckland.  Unless you could be bothered with the hassle of posting it - which I could reimburse you for.  But only if not too much of a pain.

Alternatively, any bright ideas as to why mine won't connect anymore.  It syncs and has Showtime and I can connect to the admin web interface, so it's not fried.  But it won't authenticate with my ISP, either in bridge mode, or not.  But my old Vodafone supplied modem/router connects fine with the same ID/PWD. So I'm a bit stumped.

I actually have been having problems getting the DrayTek to work with the Linksys. Seems to me that there's a problem with the pppoe/pppoa passthrough functionality. But I guess that's just speculation.

Assume you've tried resetting and setting it up again?

Yup, reflashed firmware, reset to factory settings, reinstalled all NZ settings, but still no dice.  I would have thought it was just shot - except most of the functionality still works.

Not an expert by any means, but yeah, it sounds like a discrete part of the modem hardware might have died. Since you've wiped and reconfigured, and otherwise have your connection working with another modem, I don't think there's much more you can do unfortunately.
