I could REALLY use some help.

I've tried EVERY bluetooth tutorial out there, all to no avail.

I have a Tungsten T3 that I'm trying to connect to my PC, via a D-Link 120 dongle. I can pair the two devices with no problems, I've even HotSync'ed via the bluetooth. However, when I try to access the internet via "network access," absolutely NOTHING happens, other than the "DNS lookup timed out. Please check coverage, and try again. [Comm. 8]"

I have tried setting the prinmary DNS and the IP addresses both manually and automatically, with no luck.

I am runnin Windows XP and I have the ICS enabled. I also have a Microsoft MN-700 router.

If ANYONE can please help me, I would be forever in your debt.

You can also email me at keggler719@aol.com if it's easier for you (I don't know that it would be, I'm just trying to put some options out there.)

Thank You!!!

I suppose you're getting this error on your browser? Have you followed our guide, to the point where I tell how to do a PING from the Network on the Prefs application? If you can get there, can you ping www.wired.com? If you have this problem with your browser, then check that it's not configured to use a proxy. This impacts really and creates this errors.

If not, then please add the DNS address to the Bluetooth LAN adapter on your computer. Then connect again.

Also check personal firewalls. Zone Alarm should be set to medium.

Check this article.

Yeah, I've followed the guide to a tee. I tried pinging and it doesn't ping. It merely times out, with an 0x1212 errror message.

A really weird thing is that I've gotten it to work in the past, and then all of a sudden it will just stop working. It's not even like I changed a setting, reset it, or even just powered it off. It's really odd. And the times I've gotten it to work, it had the same exact settings as I'm trying now.

Yes, the DNS message is in the WebPro browser. I've tried with the browser that came with the T3 AND with the updated one as well. And yes, I have the proxy turned off in the browser.

Another interesting thing about trying to ping- no matter what site I ping, it says it's trying to ping to the same address (ex: 14.0.0.234). After that, I get the "Error timeout (0x1212): time=0ms" message.

I've tried every possible DNS and IP and NOTHING seems to want to work.

No firewalls are running...

Are you able to ping 209.202.221.21 (www.wired.com) by IP address only?

Are you able to ping 192.168.0.1 (your computer)? If yes then you're connected, and it's a DNS problem. If not, then the ICS is not correctly configured. It has to be configured from the adapter connected to the Internet to the Bluetooth adapter.

Ok, so it probably is a problem with routing from your computer to the Internet. Can you check the ICS configuration please?

I'm checking it out now, all SEEMS well. Is there anything out of the ordinary I should be looking for?

Just the origin of the ICS, which should be the connection to the Internet, the ISP DNS should be on the Bluetooth connection, perhaps the Windows XP (if this is a XP box) firewall should be disabled on your connection to the Internet.

My "Local Area Connection" is what's being shared through ICS

My Windows XP firewall is, indeed, disabled

As far as "the ISP DNS should be on the Bluetooth connection," it is listed there

all seems well, and I have entered all the correct information into the TlT3....well, I thought I did. I guess if I actually had everything hooked up correctly, this would be working.

I'm beginning to lose hope... =0(

Did you enter any username or password on the T3? It should be empty.
