Hi guys

I recently bought EdgeRouter Lite for my fibre network but I can't seem to figure out how to set it up so I have internet connection.

Would anyone have experience in this particular router?

FYI, I have been given a static IP from Spark .

Thanks very much in advance

Cheers

It's just a standard PPPoE setup on VLAN10. You can use anything you want for the PPPoE username and password.

There have been a number of threads on here recently discussing the config if you search.

I found this set of notes from Mike Murphy very helpful:

Basically update the firmware to v1.9, and then use the wizard was his advice - works really well.

Cheers,  Greg.

I also had to ssh in to make sure hardware acceleration for NAT was turned on. Since before that I didn't get full line speed through the ERL.

Ironically though on the Gigatown line I was testing with I received 940/450Mbit on the HG659b and 880/380MBit with the ERL.

But the ERL is an excellent router from the playing I have had with it.

I really need to make an official "how to + ISP" thread at some point don't I?

Hi,

I have just configured my Edge router POE with Spark fiber yesterday by just putting down the below necessary details. I have used the Wizard with WLAN 2Lan2 and had worked without any issue.

  • Operating Mode : MDI/MDIX
  • PPP Protocol : PPPoE
  • PPP Username: user@spark.co.nz
  • PPP Password: password
  • PPP Auth Type : PAP
  • Encapsulation : 802.1Q
  • PCP Marking : 0
  • VID (or VLAN) : 10
  • MTU : 1,500 or AUTO
