This one has me stumped.

About 2 months ago I moved to a new house in Morrinsville and the internet runs on VDSL.  No problems there.

About a week after I moved in both the WiFi routers stopped working  saying no internet connection.  After various reboots  nothing so left it over nite and next morning all was good again though I did turn the Spark WiFi off on their router and just used the TP Link

To day it did it again.  The 6 year old TP Link in the lounge  kept saying no internet.  This unit runs  via Ethernet  over power.  Took the TP Link into the office and connected directly.  After a few minutes the same thing.

Turn it off and turned on WiFi in the HG630B.  After about 10 minutes the same thing.  Power off and on the HG unit and all seemed to be well , speed test was 30Meg  but after about 10 minutes it had dropped to near zero and Speedtest app on my phone now says "Network communications Issue"

This has got me completely  wacked.    It's almost like there is something else interfering with it but looking at a WiFi analyzer app it only shows my router and some of the neighbors  on  low strength and different channels. It shows my router at -28db

Any ideas would be welcome

Thanx in advance..

coffeebaron: Is Ethernet still good at the same time?

Considering it is 2 units I suspect it is an issue with the HG630b. There was a bug on older firmware versions that caused this kind of thing to happen (it has been years since I've touched a HG630 however). Ensure the firmware is up-to-date on the HG630 and if it is then it may be time to grab an upgrade.

Thanx for that The software on this was B021  I downloaded the latest B023 and updated.  This was the software that it came with and for some reason it won't allow  me to default the router or  save any configuration changes hence the reason I down graded originally. The WiFi is still the same "Connected. No Internet" .   My M-in-law had problems with her WiFi  and her one was on B018  but those issues went when upgraded to B021

Is it working over Ethernet though?

Don't know if the issue it the WiFi, or the Internet Connection (Router) otherwise.

Yep the Ethernet is all fine full VDSL speeds 30Meg down and 6 up.   Changed to another HG630G and configured that up the same , unplugged all the Ethernet ports and still the same, slow or no wifi . It's almost like there is some interference here..  Will leave it until tomorrow morning and see if it's OK like last time..

You said a new house in morrinsville - in the sentence style of 'i've moved into a new house'

Is it a brand new house with new wiring etc.?

You said EOP, wondering if the house is old and has outdated wiring etc with lots of noise.

The house is about 20 years old. The eop seems to work fine for Apple TV and TiVo. Laptop connected to ethernet in the lounge is fine. Beets me.

Are you running the same ssid and having devices roam across the routers and therefore move between ends of the EOP bridges?

Only the TP link one via EOP.   But as I said in the original post it doesn't matter if the TP Link is connect to the LAN switch in the office  or if I turn it off and only use the Spark router  but turning on  WiFi..

Did you powercycle the powerline boxes after moving the router? Ive found them quite a bad offender for stuffing up when devices move from one box to another.

This is still strange.  Friday nite before I went to bed I tuned both the VDSL and WiFi routers off and then back on next day.  Now 36 hours later everything is still fine.   I'm inclined to wonder if it's something environmental.  Next time i see my neighbor I'll ask him about his WiFi i he is using one..

It looks like I need to downgrade my spare HG630B back from B023 to B021  as you can't save the confiuration on B023

Thanx all for your answers..

It's been  now over two months since this first happened.  After my last post it happened a week latter but this time I was able to analyze this better with my cell phone and noticed it was giving an error of  "Can't obtain IP address"  Checked out the Ethernet over Power units that the WiFi was connected to and noticed on one  of them  LEDs were not as bright as the other.  Turned off and on  and it took about 20 seconds to come back online.  The second power reset killed it.  RMAd it back to PBTech.  Installed the new ones when they arrived and now two months later no problems..  Bought a spare set as well just incase ..
