Ok I suppose expecting the upgrade to SP2 to go without a hitch was a dream but this problem is just plain annoying me.

I downloaded SP2 from download.com and uninstalled Widcomm's BT Software as I new SP2 had native BT support, I then installed SP2 and everything seemed fine, I then plugged my Microtune BT Dongle back in and it was detected normally when it asked for drivers I could only find the Widcomm ones so I used them.

I then restarted to be on the safe side and then went into the control panel to configure the Bluetooth service to work with my Palm Zire 72, and thats where I hit my first problem, there was no Bluetooth icon on the control panel.

So I went back to device manager to check if the dongle was there and it was, so after a few minutes on Microsofts web site I found that I needed Bthprops.cpl so I found it, double clicked on it and nothing happened, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the dongle and SP2 but it still doesnt want to work, does anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked that your hardware is supported by Windows XP Service Pack 2?

Also, the Bluetooth on SP2 still does not offer all services that Widcomm provides. I wouldn't change one for the other.

I don't recognize this problem. However there's a problem with WIDCOMM's driver on XP SP2 as the generic driver (i.e. XP's driver) is WHQL-certified and thus preferred over the non-certified WIDCOMM driver. Check out this thread and see if it helps...

This is the exact same problem I have at the moment I removed the BT500 widcomm stack as I was hoping to use this bit of sotware with my spv c500 as it uses the native driver and stack that microsoft have developed with SP2

I have a sunix bluetooth dongle (which shows up as a zeevo dongle when installing the drivers)
I checked the compatability list and zeevo dongle are supported.(EDIT: Checked the hardware ID and it's off by 1 number USB\Vid_0b7a&Pid_07d0&Rev_0133 is supported however mine is 0134 at the end not 0133)

After I removed the existing stack and installed SP2 I inserted my dongle but windows didn't recognise it and couldn't find drivers so I needed to get the CD with the drivers on and revert back to how it was before.

Unfortunately my girlfriend threw out the box that the dongle came in along with the driver and software CD.

I managed to find out I could get the drivers from www.sunix.ciom.tw and I tried again and the drivers installed great and windows says it's now ready to use however it was just the drivers and no stack so I don't have any bluetooth symbols in the control panel.

I have been looking everywhere for somewhere to download the bluetooth software stack I was on version 1.2 but I know there is a 1.4 but I have looked everywhere for it widcomm has been taken over by broadcom and there is nothing on the broadcomm site about downloading bluetooth software.

Can anyone help me locate this software. someone must have it it comes with the CD I just need the widcomm stack so I can get bakc to normal!!!

Yeah its frustrating trying to find it, I recomend using a p2p program like kazaa lite resurection to find a copy of widcomm 1.3 rather than 1.4 as 1.4 normaly requires a key.

I also can't get this working with zonealarm as it stops the bluetooth stack from running, so be careful what firewall your running.

Hi there

I had a similar problem with my Compaq Multiport Bluetooth, XP SP2 would not recognise it, so after looking for articles on the web, I found a steer to hacking about the C:\WINDOWS\inf\bth.inf file.

My Compaq Multiport is a Cambridge Silicon Radio chipset, so what I did was to connect it, go to device manager and find out the PnP code and add another line to those under the Cambridge section in the file.

XP SP2 then found it as a device. Great BUT, I cannot do everything with it, for instance my current problem is that I can find my iPaq, but I cannot connect to it, my PC says I am sending a passkey, but the iPaq doesnt do anything. With my Bluetooth dongle it all works fine. I therefore think I need a firmware upgrade for my Compaq Multiport.

Any ideas?

I hope this bit of info has helped.

OK, it all works. I had changed more than one thing at once (to save time!), deleted the paired connection between iPaq and PC and only had the iPaq set up to connect to paired devices only. I checked the box to allow it to connect to anything and I got it all working.
