A number of people are having this issue...you may have found a fix by now. Let me know if you still have the issue and I'll help you out.

Is there any chance you could send me the drivers for your bluetooth hardware? I've installed the internal bluetooth module in my TR1, and I'm having issues with the WIDCOMM software as well. When I try to change the driver, there is no "generic bluetooth radio" listing in the device manager. Instead, the module is listed as "usb bluetooth device" and when i try to update to the widcomm driver, it just tells me that the file doesn't contain information about my device. Perhaps your original drivers can solver my problem.

Thanks,

Alex

The issue exists because the Widcomm software is not licenced for the Vaio hardware. Trying to use one with another will result in these messages.

You can get around this by changing some files and forcing the system to load the new drivers. But it's a unsupported operation. The clean alternative is to disable the internal Bluetooth hardware, uninstall the Sony Bluespace software and install a new USB Bluetooth adapter with its original software.

So you're saying the Vaio TR internal module just isn't WIDCOMM compatible? I am able to connect to my bluetooth desktop, cellphone, and mouse using the crumby Windows XP stack that works with my internal module. I just feel like I'm missing out if I'm not using the WIDCOMM software. The external dongle idea is "out" because my whole purpose of installing the internal bluetooth module was to avoid the dongles. What bluetooth software do the Vaio TRs normally ship with? (they can't possibly assume we'd just use the XP garbage)

Thanks for the help!

The Vaio comes with Sony's own Bluespace software. Check this long thread about Sony Vaio Bluetooth problems.

Alright, I found John's guide...thanks for the link. After a couple more hours of fiddling, I got the CSR driver loaded and circumvented the license.dat issue. Thanks to everyone for your help!
