Hi team,

After some help as have been battling this issue for the longest time and nobody can give a straight answer and google isn't helping.

We were with Vodafone VDSL, our internet kept dropping out intermittently and connection wasn't the best at times. Vodafone refused to look into or help so we switched to 2 Degrees. Still had the same issue but 2 Degrees at least looked into the problems for us and were fantastic to deal with. They ended up sending a Chorus technician out who looked at the phone jack on the wall and said he didn't think the house was wired for VDSL and we'd need a master splitter/filter installed which our provider could arrange. So we rung 2 Degrees about it and they said an electrician would need to do this. We've temporarily downgraded to ADSL as I work from home and couldn't work with VDSL dropping out all the time, and have had no more dropout issues but the slow speeds are killing me.

Have spoken to an electrician who has said that you can buy a splitter which plugs into the wall socket then your modem plugs into that which is apparently an inline splitter, or they could install one for around $100 + gst.

Looking on google I can't for the life of me figure out what an inline splitter is or where we would get one, or know for sure if it will help with the problem. And not sure if this is different from what the electrician would install for $100.

So I thought it might be worth posting here for some guidance. We've been battling this since we moved into this house (nearly two years ago)

We're on naked broadband, with no home phone or sky etc plugged in. Only one wall socket in the house to plug modem into. It's an older country type home so wouldn't surprise me if it has rubbish wiring. And we also aren't able to get fibre yet at our address unfortunately.
