I have purchased a DSE BT headset that I hope to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking. I have paired the device with my BT enabled laptop but I am unable to get it to work as a microphone, It also comes up with the two way arrow thing in the BT device manager.

Have i got this all wrong???? and am I able to use this BT headset like a hardf wired headset?? because if not I have to take it back. Do other headsets connect to laptops to use in this manner???

Look forward to someones reply regards Kevin

Kevin, most importantly, we need to know what Bluetooth adapter you have on your computer, and software version...

Yes thanks did read this. I don't get the connect headset option when I right click on the BT headset in the BT device manager. Everything else shows up like paring etc etc but not that.

What OS are you running? You can't get headset or audio gateway profiles working under anything less than Win ME.

Is this Service Pack 2? Are you using the Windows XP firewall (or any other firewall)?

When I right click the quick connect in the BT sys tray there is no audio gateway option avaialble as per the help file below. Options include: Business Card Exchange, blue tooth serial; port, dial up netwoking , file transfer, PIM sync, and network access

"If the connection was established via the Bluetooth icon in the Windows system tray; click the Bluetooth icon, select Quick Connect, Audio Gateway and then select the device that is providing the service (active connections have a checkmark in front of them)."

I am using service pack 1 and my techo has said that I am not firewalled as I would be if using service pack 2.

Regards Kevin
