Good blog post here how they try to make it an accurate, real world test.

On 2degrees fiber 100/20 plan in Wellington on ethernet, gigabit internal network, I get 103Mbps down with 15.7ms of latency and 1.48ms of jitter. They've disabled upload testing because apparently they were finding it inaccurate on very fast connections.

Interesting, my phone gets 102Mbps with 4.5ms of jitter. That's better than I'd expect. Fritz 7590.

100/100 BigPipe - 30ms latency and Jitter 6.3. Think if I killed the server it'd be a bit better. :)

just what we need, another speedtest utility to confuse the average joe!

Data seems to comes from their edge compute not their CDN which is kinda interesting.

I've also used CFspeed.com which is hosted on the cloudflare CDN.

You are right. It confuses us. I get over 60 mbps but my WISP is fixed at 30 mbps, which Ookla confirms. How can this be?

That's kinda interesting... maybe they aren't shaping to their CDN nodes?

i haven't seen it overestimate yet.

On Voda gigabit and it registers 800mbps to AKL, however that's with IPv6 off.  With it on, it routes to Miami!? And the speed tanks to <10mbps.

It could be Vodafone's routing... I am on 2degrees and definitely going to the AKL node with IPv6.

Also, wait until people on Spark start complaining the test shows them going overseas instead of New Zealand due to lack of peering.

Snip.....

Here goes, on Spark, 37mS, 2.4mS jitter, 101Mb/s on a 100/20 plan

No complaints about terminating in SYD

Edit: correction 45mS, maybe I will whinge, but I guess no one will care.......sob
