I can't seem to get the bluetooth shared internet connection working with my Palm. This problem is really starting to bother me now.

Equipment:

Palm Tungsten e2

Iogear Bluetooth Adapter - GBU311

DSL Internet Connection (Bell Sympatico High Speed)

WinXP SP2

So far I have enabled internet sharing on my DSL connection, installed Widcomm BT software, updated drivers, paired the Palm and the computer, and created a successful connection to the computer (lacking the internet).

Can anyone help me get this working?? This was the main reason I bought the Iogear Adapter, but now the ICS (internet connection sharing) won't work!!

there is not a guide for the Tungsten e2... will the Tungsten T work the same way?

They will all work the same - the Prefs screenshot may be different, but we have both types covered in the guides.

The configuration is actually the same. Most important thing to do is to correctly configure the sharing from the DSL to the Bluetooth adapter, check firewalls, make sure the Bluetooth adaper is using 192.168.0.1, and that this address (or range) is not used anywhere else in your network.

On the Palm you should try with and without the script. It appears the newest models don't use the script.

After following the steps (including the script), it did not work.

When I pinged sites, it said "Cannot find host"

When I try to connect to the internet, I get the "Page download could not be completed error." Data Timeout Error and it seems to freeze on "Sending" or freezes on "Recieving 2.0K"... rggh

On your Bluetooth adapter (PC side), enter the DNS server address as well. You get this address by running IPCONFIG /ALL in a Command window.

I did that still to no avail.

Yes, that's the one. Have you looked at the checklist guide if your Bluetooth LAN connection does not work?

It's very important your software is configured as Internet access, not LAN access, and even more important is the correct configuration of any personal firewall. Some of them, even if off, will still interfere with normal network operation.

I will check that out...

The odd thing is that last week I purchased a Kensington Bluetooth Adapter, and I got the internet to work on my Palm with almost the exact configuration on your site.

I returned the Kensington because I was not satisfied with the range (67 ft vs. 330 on the Iogear).
I was able to setup that one quite fast.

I am beginning to wonder what differences the Iogear has vs. the Kensington that it causing me so many problems.....

UPDATE: I think I know somewhere along the lines what the problem is.

My Palm initially starts off with a good connection, so ICS is working. The strange thing is that after about 2-5K of data is sent, the connection is lost.

When I viewed "My Network Access" under "My Bluetooth Places", there was a good connection signal shown (this was using the steps on this site). But after the 2-5K of data is sent, the connection returns to zero.

Somewhere here I am losing connection to the computer... and I don't know why...
