Hi everyone

I have two computers currently running.  They are usually networked via Ethernet.  Until today my laptop was not connected as I have been trying to get a friend's laptop going.  Tonight I booted up my laptop, Debian, but the network wasn't functional, which sems to haapen every time I power down.  So I ran #ifdown eth0" and then "ifup eth0" which usually restores the ethernet.  This time it didn't.  Ran the "/etc/init.d/networking stop"  series of commands.  Still no luck.

I realised that I have installed a new modem since the last time I booted the laptop, so guess that is the problem.  I get told "sleeping".

Any ideas?  Many thanks.

Sems weird - I ran the commands again, twice, and network is up again :-)

Need to find the "solved: icon.
