Well it has been 9 months since I got my Creative PMC and I still love it (just i haven't spend much time using it lately! bugger!)

Anyhow, seeing that Creative brought out Bluetooth A2DP headset, and there is one from LogiTech for Apple's IPOD, I'm envious and wanting to suggest few ideas to see Creative (or Microsoft) to come out with new updates to PMC platform...

1) (To Creative) Bluetooth Remote Control + Headset that plugs into the normal remote-headphone port, or even just to the USB2-Data port will be fine. So you can have bluetooth headset, and with the bluetooth remote control, so you don't have to use the main control on the unit. Hopefully the software can control/scroll through the whole PMC interface, like Start button, scrolling through the tasks etc.

2) (To Microsoft) Text Reader. This is basically an idea that taken from Apple's IPOD, that allow you to read from Text document, what Microsoft could improve on is with a conversion tool to convert DOC or PDF or HTML or anything to Text, or even just the scaled-down version of MS Reader. This will be handing on reading e-books while listening to music.

3) (To Microsoft) Simple/Basic Games. Like Apple's IPOD, games like Solitaire or Yatzhee, or Minesweeper or Pac-man or something that doesn't require a rocket scientist's brain and Cray's processing power to play.

4) (To Microsoft) My Contacts. Like Apple's IPOD, why not giving the option to hold your contacts from Outlook/Outlook Express, and store it in the PMC as read-only contacts? Be handy.

5) (To Microsoft) My Calendar/Appointments. I think Apple's IPOD has this, so why not add it in to PMC? Use the Calendar/Appointments from Outlook and put a copy of the schedule on the PMC. The unit can wake up and gives alert about the appointment. I am not too sure if PMC has any clock at all but is a great feature.

6) (To Microsoft) My Tasks. I think Apple's IPOD does not have this, so this will be great, simple to-do-lists where you can check off as you complete them. Great for grocery shopping while listening to your music or watching movie. hehe!

7) (To Microsoft) A better conduit program, rather than just relying on WMP10, why not use ActiveSync 4 that do most of the transferring? And how about a real-time media conversion tool that runs while the system is idle. So far i found that to transfer media from WMP10 to my PMC, it will convert the media in the "Sync List" provided the PMC is connected, that will take a while for movies or large media files to be converted, why not have a real-time-convert-while-pc-is-idle conversion tool?

8) (To Creative) Car-kit, utilising the USB2-Data port and perhaps partnership with Pioneer, Sony, JVC, Alpine etc to create a PMC Friendly Car-kit? Similar to what Apple has done... I sure love this!

I am sure there are more Wish-List to come in from other PMC users... Or perhaps i'm one of the few that have PMC in this country? :-( :-( :-(

Kel.

So Mauricio, what do you think of the wish-list that i put here? I know it will depends on microsoft or creative to do something about it, but that fact aside, are they do-able?

They are possible - but it depends on the market segment they are targeting and the strategy to accomplish that...

The PMC platform is based on Windows Mobile/Ce so things can be done. But where the line between personal entertainment and business becomes one? Where to cut between this and a low cost Pocket PC?

These are questions for the guys doing the strategy for these products. But still possible.

Well I hope Microsoft PMC division and Creative et al, can realise that Apple IPOD currently has advantage over PMC, due to the contact, calendar, ebook, car-kit and bluetooth headset.
